Lake Nkuruba Nature Reserve

Great location with beautiful views over a crater lake. Friendly and helpful staff.

Good size cottage, beautiful view and relaxing stay overall. Nice atmosphere and pleasant staff. Hot water available. What we didnt like was that the food was bit hit and miss- we ordered same dinner on both nights and the first night the dinner was excellent but on the second night it was made totally different and not eatable. Also there was an ongoing construction noise which was a little bit annoying.

Amazing stay as always. Beautiful experience swimming in the lake and seeing the different species of monkeys around the site. Excellent value.

I spent 4 nights here relaxing after 3 months volunteering in Uganda. A beautiful spot to relax. My bungalow was rustic in keeping with the surrounds but very comfortable on the crater rim looking out on forest and glimpses of the lake. Worked my way through the vegetarian options and enjoyed all of them thanks to Brenda and her team. Beautiful birdsong and a birder's paradise. Watched two Crowned Cranes roosting in the trees from my verandah each day and enjoyed the antics of all 4 varieties of monkeys, and the mongooses and tree squirrels. Did a 6 hour walk with Rogers guiding me to other crater lakes and Mahoma Falls. Lake Nkuruba is clearly the jewel in the crown. Swam in the lake most days and found my way around the trails. Staff all very friendly and helpful. This place is a real gem!

The accommodation is in the middle of the nature and offers great viewing possibilities for monkeys, birds, various insects and more. It is quiet, rooms are spacious, food is delicious. Brenda did a good job and was ready to help every time. Keep in mind, it's a community location. You need a torch to walk in the dark. Some small suggestions: small towel in the room and soap to wash your hands

We stayed in the lakeside cabin for 2 nights. The cabin was a bit rustic but what makes the place so amazing is the lake and surrounding nature reserve. It’s so quiet, peaceful, and beautiful. We even swam in the lake just steps from the cabin. The staff are also very kind and friendly and the food was good for all of our meals. We also did one of the activities offered by the lodge which was a few hours hike/walk through the surrounding area to an incredible view point. We would have loved to do more of the activities offered but didn’t have enough time. The nature reserve, lake, and the surrounding crater lakes region in general is a very beautiful place.

Cosy rooms, wonderful views just in the middle of nature! There is a beautiful lake which is hippo and croc free. Also, at least three different monkey species will be your neighbours :-). The food was very tasty and the staff was very welcoming and helpful. Special greetings to Brenda!

The highlight is the crater lake besides the hotel where you can swim surrounded by jungle, monkeys and birds. You have many different types of monkeys around the lodge and it’s a great spot to do yoga while watching the sunset. I also saw mongooses! The room was basic but comfortable. There was a power cut and the hot water didn’t last, but it happens in this part do the world! And the beauty of the place compensate it. The staff is very nice too.

If you are looking for a great accommodation in the Fort Portal/Kibale NP area, look no further! We stayed here for our Chimp Trekking adventure - which is only a 30 minute drive away. You are staying in the midst of nature, on the banks of the ONLY crater lake in the area that still has pristine forest all around! We spotted three different species of monkeys during our stay. Our cottage was beautiful and very clean, nice hot shower and a toilet with an unbeatable view! Food in the restaurant was also great, and very helpful and friendly staff. The road up to the lodge is good. Highly recommended!
