I was working in the area and our usual stop over was full , and was recommended the new rose and crown, well I could not have been happier, all the staff was very friendly and me feel right at home, it has a great feel of a good old fashioned pub, it was a great place to come back and relax, my room was lovely and everything I needed, breakfast was fantastic I would definitely come back highly recommended five star.. give it a go I don't think you'll be disappointed big thank you to all the staff and new owners.

We first stayed here in 2016 when it won four in a bed and it was the loveliest place we have stayed at, then we went again 2 yrs ago and the owners remembered us and made a fuss they were lovely people, out to please you & couldn’t do enough for you. My sons booked us up again for our birthdays…… well it was a very different experience this time, just the a**osphere when we 1st walked in was different!! There was a stag do breakfast on the Saturday morning so was asked if we could have breakfast early so not to interrupt with the stag do, the breakfast on the 1st morning was lovely, then the Saturday night the stag do came back and ended up with fighting which we wasn’t impressed with so went up early to our room. Then breakfast Sunday morning was totally different….. we think most of it was warmed up from the day before as the sausages were solid and the eggs were like rubber. We won’t be going back there now . The staff were ok .

This is our second visit. Staff are really friendly and work hard at making us welcome on arrival. The building dates from 1600 so if you want your room to look like a Premier Inn, go elsewhere. The plumbing was good, loads of hot water and the bed comfortable. The corridor to the room ( but not the room) has a “yeasty” smell. Excellent breakfast. Easy parking. Good sound insulation from the road. I’m sure I will be back for a third visit. Fifth star omitted due to the corridor smell.

This is our first time dining in the pub and will definitely be our last! First impressions were friendly staff, moved us to a larger table which we requested and nothing too much trouble. Our trouble started from when our food arrived. Ordered 2 Sunday mains, everything was piled on the plate whether we liked it or not. Expected veg , gravy etc to arrive separately so we could choose what we wanted but no. Roast potatoes had a weird taste to them, Yorkshire pudding was soggy. Bit into roast beef and choked on a long piece of string. Mention this to 3 different members of staff who said, im sorry.. nothing more. Upon paying I asked are u seriously expecting me to pay for a meal we barely touched to be told yes sorry, we have told kitchen to be more careful and this is not the first time we have had complaints over this. Poor customer service and only interested in taking our money.
