One Burgess Hill

I spent three nights here as part of a hiking holiday. Cannot speak highly enough. The room was lovely, HUGE bed with a beautiful view outside and a spa type bath to soak my weary limbs. Dedicated heat pump / air con unit in the room which is always a big benefit in my opinion. The staff were an absolute pleasure to interact with. The on site restaurant, which also has lovely views, produced very tasty meals, dinner and breakfast. We had a set menu as part of the package and due to my dietary requirements I was pretty much limited to one selection. Having noticed me eat the same thing the chef, before I arrived for the third and final night put some thought in to how they could give me something different which I would enjoy. What she cooked was absolutely delicious and the thoughtfulness that was put in, truly appreciated. BTW, the poached eggs in the morning are something else, YUM! The only thing I could offer up as constructive criticism would be that the lighting from the restaurant to the rooms (down a short private road) isn’t great and I needed my mobile phone light on.

The receptionist was welcoming and made us feel at home immediately. The gardens and facilities were well maintained. The room was clean and beds comfortable and the view was pretty and peaceful with birds.

The room was large, clean and well-appointed. We really loved that you could see and hear the river from the top bedroom. The environment is relaxing and I enjoyed the walk along the river and around the grounds. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and the meals were nice. The staff were friendly and attentive. The location was a short drive to town but far enough to be away from the hustle and bustle. Our only minor gripe was the driveway was narrow and difficult to see vehicles coming the other way. This made for a couple of near misses due to other drivers going too fast. The washer and dryer in the laundry need updating.
