We have stayed several times and cannot fault anything.The staff are very polite helpful and friendly.The rooms are adequate for our needs as we have dogs.The food is lovely a big thumbs up.We will continue to stay when the Southern Flat Coated Retriever show takes place at the Newbury show ground. We needed somewhere to stay the night before our cruise from Southampton and as this is only an hours drive away it was the perfect place. We loved the hotel which had recently been refurbished it was beautiful inside and the decor was fabulous. We had our evening meal in the bar area and the food was excellent as was the breakfast the morning afterwards.

We went for Sunday Lunch, service was fantastic lunch was fantastic and Clare was great very helpful was a good time. Would highly recommend and is situated in a great place lots to do around areas very nice place inside and out able car parking

We found the pub and inn charming but for some of the service. We arrived early, and I mistakenly said we wanted to check in. The host responded that check in was not until 3 pm as though I had offended her. I know tourists can be difficult, but this was not one of those times. I just forgot what time it was. There was no room to store our luggage, so we had to carry our bags up to the room that had not yet been cleaned. We ate dinner there that night around 7:30 but were told many entrees were sold out. When the next (non-American) couple sat down minutes later, they were told different by a different waiter. One ordered the pie I had wanted. I brought this to our waitress’ attention who informed me they had made a whole new batch. Given the amount of time it would take to make and bake pies, this seemed unlikely. And if it was, why was I not told more pies were coming if I wanted to wait just another ten minutes? I was disappointed and confused, and that waitress was clearly unhappy with me the rest of the meal and the next day at breakfast. I felt very uncomfortable.

Amazing two night stay. All staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, nothing was to much. Food was beautiful, both dinner and breakfast. The homemade yogurt, was the best I have ever tasted. Atmosphere was friendly and relaxing. The room was nice and quite.The pillows were lovely and fluffy and duvet was cosy and want to purchase the same for home, had the best night sleep. Thank you for a lovely break away.

We booked in for a two night b&b deal with an evening dinner on the 1st night, to coincide with our visit to Highclere. A great three days - breakfast great, supper great and the staff were just excellent, nothing was too much trouble - even sorting out the coffee maker which was a nightmare. This would have been a five star review if the coffee machine did anything at all more than once…….. Thankyou especially to Amy the new manager for her attention and service

Fantastic Sunday lunch and great service provided by Amy. We chose this location as it was convenient for a group of friends travelling from all over the country. Really pleased with our choice and we are looking forward to returning in June.

Stopped here for lunch with friends and a small child. The Sunday roast was absolutely superb! The head chef has really outdone themselves. We each had one of the meats offered (chicken, pork and beef). They were all absolutely fantastic. Well seasoned, large portions. Absolutely delicious. Pudding only two of us had, both selecting the Eton Mess which was just as lovey as the mains had been. Well worth the trip! Will be returning

The Carnarvon Arms have recently had a refurbishment in all of the rooms. The rooms are fresh, clean and spacious. The bed and the pillows were amazing. The food and drink here is also very good with a huge selection and top quality, the food is always hot and freshly prepared and of amazing quality.
