If you want a warm, clean ,comfy en-suite room at a good price, then this hotel should suit you fine. It's a bit tired but ok and has working wifi It doesn't do any food (inc breakfast) but Kirkby Lonsdale is 1-2 mins away by car and has plenty of pubs, restaurants, cafes etc. The hotel does have a pool/health centre on site run (I believe) by another organisation, but you get free access to it. M6 about 10 mins drive, so worth considering for a long journey overnight break. South Lake District approx 30 mins.

Very dated and basic accommodation. No hot water in the sink or shower. Bed comfortable and room warm.

Clean comfortable and very quiet. Not noticeably busy at all. Rather dated interior & no food served at the hotel. No breakfast lunches or evening meals despite notices outside saying hotel has a restaurant. It doesn’t. Nevertheless it offers reasonable comfortable sleeping accommodation and there are cafe’s & restaurants within a short distance.

A comfortable but dated hotel. Very quiet & comfortable. It doesn’t serve any food at the moment, not even Breakfast. However, there are plenty of restaurants, Cafes and tearooms within easy reach by car. Did not use the leisure centre next door. Friendly staff. Conveniently located for Yorkshire Dales, Lake District and surrounding areas.

Fabulous stay at Whoop Hall. It is a little bit tired as a hotel but the room was clean and the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in. Bar on site and had a choice of getting a takeaway bought in by just eat or driving two minutes into Kirby in Lonsdale which is a beautiful place. Went to the leisure facilities and had a swim, jacuzzi, sauna and did the steam room. Some of these reviews are very critical and I would happily recommend this for a lovely night away.

Nice country side hotel, plus for swimming pool with steam room and sauna just check on opening times. Room was good size with comfy beds, cute bar area. Taxi cost £10 if they are local or £20 if no driver locally

There is nothing to like about this property. The rooms are very old and dated, dirty walls, the beds are lumpy, the furniture needs to be modernised. There's no soap or shower gel provided, the bathroom is also dated and infested with mosquitoes and bugs. There's no hook to hang the shower hose. The sign outside states food served all day but there no food at all ! Not even breakfast in the morning. There was only one person looking after the property and was very unprofessional, walking around bare foot and complaining about hotel booking companies. THIS WAS ONE OF THE WORST PLACES I HAVE EVER STAYED AT!!!!

No food available on site anymore and no breakfast option. Does not state this on booking site Staff very unwelcoming and verging on rude. On departure no one at reception. Waited 15 minutes, phoned and was advised to simply leave key and go. When I express my disappointment in the experience I was simply told to have a nice day. I will not be back and would recommend to others to avoid.

Last minute choice, won't do it again. Only briefly saw owner, very rude. Never any staff to be seen. Reception always empty. Tired, not cared for and not even any breakfast. Go through door to pool and gym which is a different business and it's like Narnia. Lights on, polite helpful people, could get a coffee. Great swim and then back through what felt like C S Lewis' wardrobe door to dark, dreary hotel. Just glad we did not meet the rude man again.

Lovely quiet and quaint,, beautiful views from room 14 of the countryside. Only a short ride away from the villages of Kirby Lonsdale and Ingleton where you can visit the devils Bridge and waterfalls.

The hotel was used as it was close to the 3 peaks hike. The hotel is dated, and doesn’t serve food, but it’s only a few minutes drive into the village where there is some nice restaurants/ pubs. The bound of this place is it has a good leisure facility, with a large pool, sauna and steam room, which was definitely needed after hiking. Towels are available and it has full shower facilities also. The bedrooms are dated and some of the rooms don’t have showers, but, if you’re needing somewhere to crash for a few nights and have the leisure options, this place is absolutely fine for that. If you want modern 5 star hotel services/facilities, then this place isn’t for you, but, being in a remote village, options are limited. Overall, I would stay again, but maybe ask for a room that has a shower.

Don't be fooled by the photographs of this hotel. It was so bad we left at 11pm but would've left earlier if I wasn't waiting to hear if my Balloon Flight was going ahead at 6am the following day. The musty smell we were greeted with in reception was enough to give us the idea of what to expect in our room, and should've made us turn around and leave immediately. We gave it the benefit of the doubt but should've trusted our instincts. The 'owner/manager wasn't friendly and rude, when I asked if he would check on the bathroom light he tutted as if I was an inconvenience to him. We couldn't sleep in this bedroom and we have both been bitten from bugs on the bed-just by lying on top of the sheets. We would rather sleep in our car than stay in this hotel. It makes Fawlty Towers looks like a 5* Hotel The hotel is very run down and looks very uncared for, we didn't see any more guests staying here.

I had visited whoop hall in the past when it was a beautiful, thriving business. I don’t know the story behind it’s demise but at best it could be described as a motel. We didn’t mind the no food issue although we hadn’t realised that in advance We ate at The Plough and returned to sleep at Whoop. I commented that it didn’t feel like a hotel - literally somewhere to lay your head, There were two other guests We sat in the courtyard for a drink The owner was not rude to us It all just felt a bit sad He clearly had no staff and little enthusiasm for the whole hospitality side of things We waited ages for the water to run hot in the shower but it eventually did , thank goodness. I wouldn’t recommend if you’re booking a holiday - ok if you’re passing through and want somewhere to sleep for the night. It’s in a beautiful setting in a tourist area Sadly it’s lost it’s attraction and I came away wondering how it could ever move forward again

Stayed here as a family of 3.. 2 adults and a 1 year old. Very last minute and absolutely everywhere else in the surrounding area was fully booked, so despite not being our first choice we went with it. We arrived and eventually found the owner, can't say 100% but we were sure he was drunk. He tried to talk us into a twin room as the double was above the bar and might be noisy for the baby.. looking round there was probably 3 other guests so we were happy it wouldn't be noisy and took the double. The owner agreed and said "don't come and complain its too noisy if people want to spend at the bar and your baby can't sleep" The room was tiny and very dated, the double bed smaller than your average double and nowhere for the baby to sleep. My husband went down to ask if there was a cot or travel cot available (*********** says there are) and was just told 'no' We went out to eat and checked everywhere in local villages for somewhere else to stay, with no luck, so when we came back my husband asked the owner for extra bedding so we could make a makeshift bed for our daughter, again he was told no! The owner said if anything happened we could sue him.. my husband said very plainly there was nowhere for the baby to stay and the owners reply was "well I've only charged you for 2 adults so I haven't charged for the baby to stay" we were absolutely flabbergasted! He'd seen the baby when we checked in, it's not like we'd tried to sneak her in! We ended up taking pillows off the bed and towels from the bathroom to make her a bed because we had no other choice than a 2.5 hour drive home. Every other review about the place being shabby, dated, unclean are completely true (there was bogeys wiped all over the curtains in our room) it could have been overlooked for a 1 night spontaneous trip but rooms without adequate sleeping facilities in a hotel is beyond a joke.

Stayed here Friday till Sunday with a group of friends as we was doing the three peaks. The rooms and the bar area was clean. Swimming pool was just what we needed after the walk and it was nice. I couldn't fault the owner, thought he was pleasant and helpful. They don't do Food so we ordered Chinese in and he supplied the plates and cutlery which we thought was good of him.
