On a visit to the Lake District And getting hungry my friend and I stopped at the Kings Arms . We were welcomed by the owner and on ordering drinks were able to warm ourselves by the log burner. It was cosy and homely. We were shown through to the dining room and our food arrived and what a banquet. I had three courses and the roast beef just melted in your mouth. I chose the soup for starter and the pecan pie for dessert. The price was excellent. When the area , go there to eat you won’t be disappointed . Jean Martyn BGT finalist 2011

this was intended as a getaway from it all for 1 night for me and my wife. it turned into the worst stay ever, we booked it online on their w/site £ 70 including breakfast .entering the bar and spoke to the l/lord ,he said he had no idea about our reservation as "the internet was down , there would be no breakfast as it was not a day we do breakfast " he showed us to our room (annex at rear) and disappeared back to the bar. the room was freezing cold (rad was turned off so i turned the valve open full, the on suite was the same , the vanity mirror light was broken (apart from a flicker) so shaving was guesswork, the shower faucet was loose and the shower head kept sliding down , the water temp kept fluctuating wildly to the point of scalding hot/cold. .the decor was tired and the carpet was dirty. who ever built it mustn't have had a spirit level because the floor sloped badly down towards the bed head. needless to say we wont be going back.

Decided to give our local pub a second chance after previous disappointment so as they were promoting on their face book page Winter Special two for £15,00 we thought we would give it another go, Food was basic but for the price thought it was ok. On payment however we were told that this deal ended in November. Considering it was advertised on the 2nd of November as a Winter deal with no cut off date we didn't realise summer had come early!! Also we ordered a Heineken Beer we were served a non alcohol drink without any explanation and when we questioned it they were unhelpful and not prepared to change it, Was told that's all the Heineken they do, Won't be going there again will go to a proper pub down the road where they are grateful for your custom,,,

Barry and Sally are doing a great job, welcoming villagers to the Kings. It is now starting to feel like a real pub again, after months of managers coming and going. Beer and food are good. It is a pleasure to go for either a drink and/or a meal. Also thankyou for the Poppy wreath at the Rememrance Day Service from mthe Barry , Sally and the Kings Aems

We visited The Kings Arms for a meal on the way up to Scotland. The staff were very friendly, food lovely and reasonably priced. Also dog friendly which was brilliant. Definitely eat there again when we pass that way.

My wife and I had an evening meal on our two day trip to this lovely Cumbrian village.. Excellent service at the bar and restaurant, excellent food and top class “Wainwright’s Gold” real ale. Two mains for £15....unbeatable value. What a wonderful place to find and enjoy.

We booked most of the pub out for our wedding guests two 2 weeks ago - some relatives stayed 3-4 days, including one elderly relative with very limited mobility who stayed in the disabled-access room. Everything was brilliant from start to finish, the rooms were great, breakfast was great, lots of people had lunch or evening meals and found the food to be excellent. Room service for my elderly relative was no problem at all. The team there could not have done more to look after people, it really was great and we are so appreciative to Sharon, the manager, and all her staff

Stayed en route from Scotland. Good parking, nice food, warm welcome from both staff on duty but ... Found room cold Fly poo on duvet cover Main door rotten with etched frosted glass panel that looks into room from car park. Bed on castors that zoomed across the floor when attempting to get into it. Several stains on walls, with, scuffs etc. Could be so much better with a little TLC. At £117 per night overpriced. Interconnected door made room very noisy could hear ever word of a couple's very private conversation.
