The owner, who speaks Chinese, was very welcoming and enthusiastic. The hotel is very close to the pier, with food stalls and a 7-Eleven nearby. It's also very affordable.

Budget hotel. Reception uncle quite nice. I left my stuff on the reception table. I went out and came back after few 6 hours, he told me I left my belonging and he passed it to me.

The place was not clean. The towels were disgusitng with stains from god knows what. I didn’t use the towels. Found a dead cockroach that had shared the bed with me overnight.

The booking thru trip.com was super convenient… I booked this place just for a quick transit and because it is sooooo cheap. Won’t complaint much as I could have a good sleep and wake up fresh the next morning. Hotel provided basic amenities - one mineral water and a soap (small size for traveller). But what I appreciate much is there is someone who opened the door as I arrived around 12:30am after midnight (following the ETS arrival time). Getting the grab to and from this hotel was also easy. Asked for room with a window. It's old single pane design which did not seal correctly so AC was not as effective as heat was entering through the gaps.
Room is extremely basic, I found it to be expensive for the low standard compared to other SE Asia countries budget hotels I've stayed at.
Location is about a mile walk from Penang Sentral. Nothing to see in Butterworth it's not for tourists for what I saw
No complimentary coffee but have 2 small bottles of water and there is a water dispenser at reception to top up.
No mini fridge. There is a TV but I didn't use it. Only 1 double socket in the room.
Incorrect WiFi details on key.
Ceiling tiles are polystyrene which are fire hazard.
I recommended not to stay in Butterworth head to the island!!!
