My wife and I chose this hotel due to its affiliation with Marriott Bonvoy, and booked Edy's Art Cottage for a weekend getaway. I had read some questionable reviews online that called it a glorified roadside motel, but decided to stick with my decision, and I'm glad I did. The place may have started as a roadside motel in the 50's, but the current owners have done a wonderful job of renovating and modernizing it. The shtick of "Dr. Wilkinson" pervades the place, but in a fun and kitschy way that is well-done and well-executed. The staff were universally friendly and professional. We had three issues during out stay, all minor, but they people we spoke with corrected the problems and turned service challenges into service recovery. The main drag in Calistoga is filled with shops, bars, and restaurants that are tapping into the same 50's nostalgia as the hotel, and it just works. We had a spectacular dinner at Lovina just down the road, and I highly, highly recommend that restaurant to anyone. In conclusion, I will say to bring earplugs because the hotel is right on the busy street and it was clearly constructed before sound insulation was a thing. But if you know that going in, and are willing to "go with the flow" of the theme of the place, I suspect you'll have as excellent a stay as we did.
