My experience at the InterContinental Cancun fell far short of five-star standards, feeling even worse than a budget hotel back home. All the fixtures and appliances throughout the hotel were already 30 years old, and the bathroom was so cramped there was barely room to stand. In-room accessories and the telephone were outdated models from decades ago, and the minibar was completely missing. The TV was mounted crookedly, mirrors were heavily rusted, and scuffs and dents were visible everywhere on the tiles, floors, and furniture surfaces. The overall facilities were severely dilapidated. I struggle to understand why the InterContinental brand would endorse such a hotel. This stay was an absolutely terrible experience.

The hotel charged me over a hundred dollars more than the price listed on the platform and then had a terrible attitude about it, not returning calls or emails. It took a whole month to sort out, and the manager and some other higher-ups were particularly unhelpful.

Overall, the stay was quite pleasant. The lobby and rooms were comfortable, tidy, and clean. The front desk staff were also very friendly. They even have a smart robot that delivers food! The breakfast was extensive and delicious. I'd definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.
