Moinho Das Feteiras

Great Place to be We stayed for a few days in April in Moinho das Freteiras. It is a wonderful place at a great location. The apartment itself feels brand new with everything you need. Beds are very comfortable. From the balcony of the bedroom and the garden you have a direct look at the ocean. The house is surrounded by a very well maintained garden. The apartment has its own garden where one can sit, have a meal or drink and rest in the quiet atmosphere of the garden right in front of the ocean. There is a breakfast service included in our booking - every morning we received a well stocked basked with a delicious full breakfast. The apartment is located just 20mins away from the airport and at the same time at a very quiet area - and well positioned for any trip or exploration to the mountains or other parts of the island. The hosts are easy to reach and quick responding to any issue you might have. We would surely return.

My wife and I stayed in the windmill for a week arriving on Saturday 27th July. It was a fantastic experience. I had read a couple of bad reviews on here about mold and a damp smell but we didn’t have any of those issues. The windmill is very cosy. The kitchen area is small and partially under the stairs (so you have to be careful not to bump your head), but it’s perfect for making tea and a sandwich. The bathroom is on the first floor and is spacious (the shower does drain slowly, but we didn’t have a problem with this). The bedroom on the top floor is spectacular. The views (360°) are fantastic (better than the photos) and the king sized bed is very comfortable. There is a chicken coup nearby and the cockerel 🐔 does like to crow early in the morning. So, although we like the windows open at night, we chose to keep them shut and utilise the aircon. There was a generous basket of food delivered at 8am every morning (just left on the doorstep) and there was plenty for breakfast and a light lunch. The swimming pool (which is not mentioned in the blurb) was fantastic. One of the best pools that I have swam in. A salt water (heated) infinity pool that I didn’t want to get out of. I have put on three photos- one of me in the pool and two of the view from the pool (you can just see the windmill on the right behind the tree) If you have any doubts about this place, dispel them and book it. You won’t be disappointed.

We loved the included breakfast which consisted of fresh local goods! Made our stay much easier and conveniant. Highly recommend

Just an absolutely beautiful place inside and out. Wonderful to have the chickens and rabbits on site. There is a bit of a problem with some very loud neighbouring dogs.

VERY strong smell of damp/mould in the property. Visibility of black mould on furniture. The extremely strong smell meant I was unable to sleep well and it actually affected my breathing during my stay and for days afterwards. It's actually a health hazard staying here. There was a huge dehumidifier in the kitchen and it had been re-painted recently so the owners know of the issue but still continue accept paying customers. Anything nice about the property is forgotten because of the mould issue. Look at the photos. I would avoid this property!!
