Hotel was… nice. Very quaint, some may say outdated, but I guess that’s the look they hope to achieve. Our room (Nelson 1) had beautiful views across the gardens and bay, quite stunning. Breakfast was not great. Same pineapple and melon every morning. Scrambled eggs always cold so didn’t want to risk those. There were pancakes and waffles but nobody ate them because they were stone cold and looked pretty unappetising. The same 10 or so pancakes just sat there every morning, perhaps they were just meant be decorative I’m not sure.. As a vegetarian there is no vegetarian alternative to the sausages, bacon, hams etc that most hotels provide these days. We were bed and breakfast and if wanted to stay on site during the day there was only an option of a cheese and ham toastie for lunch which was a bit of a shocker. The waiter allowed us to take a bread roll from breakfast to eat for lunch. We only ate in the hotel restaurant one evening and didn’t return. Again very little vegetarian food. My main meal of a ‘veggie burger’ was absolutely hilarious. I was charged over €20 for a single frozen fake meat style burger, no bun, chips, salad, literally just the burger. I’m sure the waiter must have been embarrassed to give it to me! We ate in the hotel at the other end of the bay (Casablanca wine bar). Really lovely and loads of choice. Highly recommend and gutted we didn’t book to stay there. Evening entertainment was pleasant but very repetitive. An older gentleman playing his piano in between cigarettes and singing the same songs each evening to a very small audience. I’m not sure why the hotel don’t address this as it’s such a missed opportunity. There’s not much else going on in the resort once you’ve eaten. Providing a bit of variety to the hotel stay entertainment would encourage paying guests to remain in the hotel during the evening. Loved the fact there were lots of little areas to relax on sun loungers during the day in the gardens, around the pool or on the beach. Although not sure why the hotel ask guests to pay (I think the lifeguard said €30 to sit on the first couple of rows?) . A very silly decision as it just annoyed guests and understandably nobody sat on them. I would have felt totally obnoxious if I had paid that to sit in front of other people anyway. Pool was nice. Again though really odd that they allow glasses around the pool area. I don’t think we’ve ever stayed in a hotel that allows this. It’s very windy up by the pool so it’s just an accident waiting to happen. They also don’t allow food by the pool. Which is ironic really as there was nothing I could actually eat anyway. All in all a nice break as weather was kind and scenery beautiful. Felt very ready to leave after a week though as really not much to do and I was starving! Something which did annoy me was you get 2 teabags and 2 tiny milks pots in your room at the beginning of the week. They never actually replace them unless you ask. A bit annoyin
