Grand Hotel Smeraldo Beach

Perfect place to stay in Costa Smeralda. Own, beautiful beach in a place where all the public beaches are overcrowded. Combined with a rental car the hotel was a good hub for exploring north Sardinia. Great service by all in the hotel, room very comfortable with adjustable air conditioning and great beds. Half board (dinner) good and plentiful.

Recently spent a week at this hotel and it was fabulous. Staff were really helpful and the setting is beautiful. Just a 5 min walk into the main resort where there are plenty of restaurants. My only ****** was the shower pressure in the room which needs looking at. However, this would not stop us staying here again. A really relaxing week with great snorkelling off the hotel’s private beach.

Although the hotel is not perfect I give it a 5 star rating based on: superb location, very well kept grounds and public spaces, room cleaning excellent and unobtrusive, good and varied evening meals and above all first class staff always friendly and helpful. I would particularly mention the Reception and Restaurant staff and the efficient service in the bar. We had a room location issue due to a left problem and a significant health problem and the hotel quickly came up with a very happy solution. On the slightly negative side the bedrooms are a bit “old fashioned” and could probably do with upgrading. But there are so many positives that this is not an issue.

We stayed for a week at the Grand Smeraldo and had such a wonderful, relaxing holiday. The hotel is in a beautiful, picturesque location with four pools to choose from and a private beach for hotel guests. The town is a five minute walk from the hotel and there’s a larger beach, restaurants, bars etc. The staff at the hotel are brilliant and couldn’t do enough for us, especially the evening restaurant staff who went above and beyond. The hotel is traditional Italian in its decor and spotlessly clean. The gardens are also very well cared for which enhances the general aesthetic of the hotel yet further. We went for the half board option and were very impressed with the food, four courses every night of the most delicious Italian dishes. I had the salmon one evening which was genuinely the best salmon I’ve ever had!! Plenty to choose from at breakfast- great selection of fresh pastries, pancakes, fruit etc. The room was very spacious and tastefully decorated. We didn’t opt for a sea view room but the views are stunning so it probably is worth it if you’re prepared to pay the extra. All in all a brilliant holiday, generally we don’t go back to the same hotel/location as we like to visit somewhere new but we may have to make an exception in this case as we would love to return!! :)
