Room 905, tatty, damaged, TV had no signal at all, no chair at all neither easy or office chair, tea spoons dirty covered in dried goup. The place as a whole is completely soulless reception and bar/dining area in particular. I understand this place had been hosting illegal immigrants, and the owning company have taken the generous funds the government pay them and then decided not to refurb the rooms themselves. Awful place! Staff nice, bed comfy though...

It was obvious from checking in, something was not quite right here. But I have stayed at lots of hotels and continued to check in to a two night business stay. I did not use the bar area or food, so no comments made about this, but only the room. Without a doubt the worst room i have ever stayed in, it stunk of damp, there was missing furniture and holes in the walls where furniture was, and painted around shapes on the wall, the room was not a clean feel from the minute I stepped in, there was small moths around in the room which was a bit odd, and then when the top small towel was lifted, there was one in between the clean towels as well? The bathroom had mouldy silicone, a towel radiator that was rusty, this sink was cracked and the all the fittings were well past their used by date. The shower has split hose and would not stay up and just rested at its lowest point, limply point towards the wall. One of the cupboards had someone else's clothes in it, including a linen bag with the room number written on it, and laundry, including socks etc. ??? Quick google realised this hotel has only just been cleared of British visitors that have been living there for two years, and it is now fairly obvious the hotel chain have simply started releasing the rooms again without so much as a refurb or sort out. Unbelievable that Holiday Inn group thinks this is acceptable to add rooms in this state at a premier location. I did not stay for night two, and checked out early.

We stayed here for two nights in a suite. Whist the room had a view, the air conditioning was very noisy and despite being on 16 made the room warmer. On arrival check in was not the best and the receptionist seemed rather rushed. After night one was very hot in the room due to poor air con we reported this and was told it would be reset. We were asked why we hadn’t reported this in the night - my response was we were trying to sleep! The reset didn’t work. We should have guessed there was a problem with a fan in the room and two fan heaters??. When we turned on the fan, dust blew everywhere, clearly the room had not been used for a while. The second night was the same. We reported the sitcom three times and then I read on here to find that this problem had been going on for many months. Why weren’t we told on checkin that the hotel had aircon problems. The room is advertised with air conditioning!! Further, Despite the advert for deep cleaning we found marks up the wall, a dirty shower and limescale. The bathroom extractor fan did not work and seemed clogged with dust. One tv was unplugged and the other had cables dangling down the wall. The breakfast was rather over done with the Sausgaes being darker than those I do on my bbq and the eggs looking like ones you buy for the children from toys r us. We have taken photos and will be sending them directly to IHG and to ask them if this hotel should really be part of their group. It was a special trip for a special lady and was really ruined. My advice don’t stay here at all and look for other hotels close by which are much much better. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Stayed on 4th floor and had no problems with the room, or air conditioning as mentioned in earlier reviews. Perhaps it has been fixed? Agree that the car park was small for size of hotel, but no problems parking, stayed on a Saturday night. Huge pot holes on way out of car park, concerned I might have ruined my suspension! Come on Holiday In, fill in those giant pot holes! Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast good, with lots of choice.

It’s a nice hotel with a big potential and very bad management. It looks like they do not invest anymore to fix the problems. Reading recent reviews they have few common comments: aircon not working, bathroom cleaning not the best, and few more. Warm welcome at the front desk, check in was smooth and the room I was given at the 10th floor had beautiful views. Room was reasonably clean but very warm. Aircon was noisy and flashing service mode and windows not opening due to the type of the building. Receptionist said she’ll reset it and I shall try in 15 minutes. She also sent me a fan which I refused. Nothing has changed after 15 minutes so I asked for different room. The aircon seemed to be working on the remote unit but in fact it was just noisy nothing else. Room was still hot and I had a very bad night. As I learned this is already a long term problem so why the receptionist didn’t say “sorry we have a problem with aircon but rather sending a fan and swapping room. Just be honest people. Shower sliding door were missing, obviously removed when broken but not a huge problem. But visible limescale wasn’t very nice. Fridge was working but not very powerful. However it kept my water reasonable cool. Conclusion: Quite nice place to stay once the aircon and ventilation is fixed. Not before that.

Where do I begin? This 12 floor hotel comprising over 1000 rooms is serviced by a bizarrely tiny car park which is shared by commercial premises which form a semi circle around the hotel. Fortunately it was a weekend so there were some spaces available but I'm not sure where guests are supposed to park in the week. The building is made of glass with no windows which open and the air con in many of the rooms had malfunctioned so the place was like a greenhouse. Our room was bordering on sauna like temperatures so we asked to be moved to a room which was at least bearable, but still uncomfortably warm. The shower door was non-existant, the fridge in the room didn't work and there were no menus or info in the rooms about anything. This vast hotel seems to be staffed with no more than 4 people at a time and although they were friendly enough, weren't particularly professional and at best were vaguely disinterested. The food was OK but the kitchen hygiene practices left a little to be desired from what we could see through the hatch. Being on the 10th floor we had impressive views of Cannock (if that isn't a contradiction in terms) but the nearby Premier Inn looked more and more inviting with each hour.

Faulty air-con that the reception knew about but made no effort to fix meaning we had a very uncomfortable night and left early.

Tatty and sad hotel. Hotel looked a dump from the outside andthe parking area was untidy and run down. Inside it was a little better but very standard and the air con in one of our rooms didnt work so we had to move. Unemptied bathroom bin in one room as well. Yuck! Dinner was tasteless although staff were pleasant.
