After a tour around the Cathedral we stopped at the lounge area of the Cathedral lodge for a snack and drink. It was very disappointing. The young sour waitress could have given Basil Fawlty a few tips on rudeness to the customers. By the time the sausage roll arrived (20 minutes) after the drinks and lemon drizzle which was stodgy and in edible we were starting to see the funny side of things as it was getting worse with rudeness to other customers. Needless to say we didn’t leave a tip and vowed never to return. I decided to write this after a friend told us this week of a very similar experience. The only difference was the person serving was old but equally rude. This is a shame and reflects badly on the Cathedral.

Wonderful setting. You can enjoy the glorious Cathedral behind you, explore its delightful Precincts and then find yourself in an excellent setting for lunch. Relaxed ambience and plenty of space between tables. The food provided and its presentation were superb. Backed by a most enjoyable glass of wine. Every ancillary item - from the dishes, glasses and table settings merited an A1 rating. Hope to come back soon.

Perfect location right in the grounds of the Cathedral. We needed easy access for my wife. This was ideal. Adjacent parking. All access was completely level. We had a comfortable ground floor room with view of the cathedral. Curtained shower, level with no step up. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfasts included. Entry to the the cathedral also included. Slight disappointment was that there was no food or refreshments available on the weekday evenings that we were there, but there are plenty of places nearby catering for all needs (some offering discounts to guests of this hotel). We had to have the window open at night as the room was very warm with no obvious means of controlling it. One benefit of that was we could hear the peregrines on the tower from our bed in the morning!

Stayed at the Cathedral lodge for two days to see Canterburys attractions, have to say what a brilliant hotel.Firstly its located in the grounds of the cathedral so you literally walk straight from the hotel door into the grounds of the cathedral which is amazing. The hotel is a lovely place to stay to explore Canterbury a lovely hotel very comfortable and clean with very friendly and helpfull staff we were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the hotel colleagues.Breakfast was included at the hotel and it was excellent lots of choice and very nicely cooked. Also included in the hotel stay was a free pass into the cathedral which is normally approx £17 to enter so another added bonus and a must to see absoltely stunning, carpark is available at the hotel at a cost of £10 per night but it is best to pre-book this as space is limited. The hotel is located central to all attractions and is also very secure all in all a great place to stay for a comfortable visit to one of Englands historic citys.

A fleeting visit but the experience was exceptional. Felt as if I was in 'seventh heaven' when my parking place was adjacent to the Cathedral, next to the hotel and secure overnight. Greeted in such a friendly manner and my room was one of the best In have ever had the privilege of staying in. I very much hope I will der able to repeat the experience and enjoy a longer stay.

The good - Great location, friendly staff. Not so good - VERY small room, terrible water pressure from the sink tap, phone in room didn't work so had to go to reception with issues, no cups, no milk, no spoons in room, couldn't hang up more than two items in what passes for a wardrobe [no doors, just a rail] because the safe was in the way, breakfast service was poor on both mornings - waited 15 minutes and when no toast arrived reminded the staff and then waited another 5 minutes, no small teapots left so they brought a giant pot which was badly stained, hash browns were obviously left under heat lamps for what felt like a year..., the hotel is also pretty noisy in that the walls seem to be very thin and sound travels too much between rooms [I was woken by a guest in an upstairs room snoring] - oh, and the BELLS! Nowhere during the booking process does it mention that you WILL be woken EARLY by the bells from the cathedral [you might assume that anyway, I didn't due to the renovations currently happening, it wasn't obvious that the bells would be in use, so it would be nice to be forewarned - I would have stayed elsewhere had I known and I guess that's why they don't tell you] and finally, if you're on the ground floor the windows don't have any way to protect ones privacy without closing the curtains, so be prepared to either sit in the dark or parade in front of passing guests

I cannot over recommend this place. Truly excellent service, staff is wonderful, couldn't do enough for us. Location, right next to the cathedral (admission included when staying at The lodges) perfect. Rooms gorgeous. Breakfast first class. I loved it 😍.

All excellent and the perfect place to stay when visiting Canterbury and the Cathedral. Polite and friendly staff, nice 'room with a view', good towels and a very powerful shower! Good choice at breakfast. We also enjoyed sitting out in the garden, looking over to the magnificent cathedral. The room rate includes entry to the cathedral, so very good value. Thank you Cathedral Lodge - we will recommend and certainly return.
