Carlingford House is a lovely property in a great location but service could be improved. My friend and I stayed after day two of a wedding and were disappointed to learn they don’t offer breakfast. The pandemic is (thankfully!) behind us - this was the reason we were given when we asked - so this policy should be revisited as it seems like a fairly weak excuse. Is it quite strange to run a B&B that doesn’t offer both B’s?

Charming B and B. They don’t serve breakfast, but breakfast is just down the road, abt 2 min walk. They also have some snacks in the room. For what you get, the price is very reasonable. I loved the location … just a quick walk to downtown. The pubs are great and locals are very welcoming. Also good hiking very close by. If you get a chance, walk down to the tourist center for a nice review of Carlingford’s history.

We spent two nights here recently. This was our second visit and Irene gave us the same room as before. We had told her how much we had enjoyed our previous stay. It was perfect. The location couldn’t be better and the comfort second to none. We discovered we could do without breakfast and just drink tea instead. Then we were ready for our lunch and dinner in the village. We hope to return to Carlingford in the future and wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere but in Carlingford House.

Peter and Irene were perfect hosts. Property was bang in centre of Carlingford so only a short walk to all amenities. Stunning old building but with modern bedrooms. You can park on site. Breakfast isnt provided but cafes very close by. Peter said we could leave our car in car park whilst we stroll into town for brekkie. We only needed a bed as we were at a wedding round the corner at Four Seasons Hotel and it was the most cofiest bed we could have got. Will stay again for sure.

We had a great three-night stay in this neat and very clean guest house. It's just out of the town centre, so close enough for it to be a short walk to the town centre, but far enough out that there's is no night-time crowd noise. The hosts were very helpful and friendly, with suggestions for places to visit and dine. You can join a number of hikes nearby, including the Tain Way and Barnavave Loop. COVID precautions meant there was no breakfast, but the Orchard Bakery is just up the road and there are plenty of options in the town. Overall, highly recommended.

We stayed one night at the Carlingford House - our hosts made it very clear that there was no breakfast available at the property - which is understandable during the current covid situation. The location is brilliant - at one end of the village with ample private parking and yet it is very quiet at night - even with the windows open. The house is charming - with many period features - some beautiful pieces in the house. the rooms are very comfortable and very clean and the hosts were charming. all in all a very enjoyable night away and very good value.
