The Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa

Great and easy to book via trip.com. Good property but it’s a resort thus there’s resort fee and check out is subject to availability despite Bonvoy membership. Also note that we booked breakfast with the room but turned out we only have a daily breakfast credit of $44 which doesn’t quite make sense to us. Average single breakfast item on the menu is like $15-$18 and excludes coffee or drinks. Still need to top up at the end. Not great on that point. Otherwise great stay!

Beautiful place. Enjoyed our time. Room service charges are out of control. 21% service charge, plus a 5% delivery charge, and that does not include the tip! Just charge more for the meal.

This hotel is absolute garbage. Valet parking takes all of the parking near the hotel (there’s plenty of designated valet parking, they’ve just used chains and signs to take up more parking…or maybe the hotel has the valets parks cars across the street since they’re getting paid to park cars), no microwaves in the room, carpet cleaning at 8:30 am with rude workers that don’t care about customer service when you tell them your kids are sleeping. AND there’s some awful Taylor swift cover band right outside my window tonight until 9pm and apparently because that’s before quiet time, there’s nothing I can do about it. It’s so loud I can’t even hear myself think and I can hear this horrible music even with my AirPod pros in my ears. We’re tired, we travelled cross country for a national soccer tournament, and we’ve spent most every day outside in the heat and sun and instead of rest and peace and quiet and good customer service we’re paying $500/night to be disturbed in a barely mid hotel. Comping me my parking fee when I can’t park near my hotel hardly seems like a resolution. And who’s bright idea was it to have a Taylor swift cover band here and NOT TELL YOUR GUESTS in advance doesn’t know how to run a business. $25/tickets for a horrible cover band versus my $417 base rate for my stay plus taxes, plus resort fees, plus $38 to park across the street and my son has an 8am game tomorrow but can’t sleep with this garbage music, . I absolutely hate this place, wish I could post the videos of how loud and obnoxious this place is. He’s so tired and there’s no way he can sleep with this ridiculousness.

Staying at the Westin was a great experience from the start all the way to check out. The staff is very welcoming & informative. We booked the executive suite & it was beautiful. The kids enjoyed the hot tub/pool late at night. Luckily it’s open 24/7. Room service was amazing for our breakfast. The food & drinks were delicious & good portions.

Stayed at The Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa for a business trip and it exceeded expectations across the board. The property strikes the perfect balance between professional and relaxing. The room was spotless, quiet, and very comfortable—ideal for getting work done and recharging after a long day. The bed and workspace setup were both excellent. Service was consistent and high-quality throughout my stay. Staff were efficient, professional, and respectful of time, which matters when you're traveling for work. Location is also a big plus—easy access to nearby areas, but still feels removed enough to unwind. Amenities like the pool, fitness center, and on-site dining made it easy to stay productive without needing to leave the property. If you’re traveling for business or liesure and want a place that’s reliable, comfortable, and well-run, this is a great choice. I’ll absolutely stay here again.

In a nutshell: Suite was large & filled with barely any furniture and the ones they had were damaged & dated - bed was so bad I had a backache! Mattress was ultra soft & springy - TVs worked so slow, had trouble logging into the 2 options!? Netflix & YT. That's all you get - Shower had a tub yuk! - balcony was tiny & no chair could face out! - furniture was broken - no microwave - walls filthy -sofa in living rm smelled dirty & was worn so bad you sank into it - LOUD as was by the service area outside! Lastly, it was 730AM the day we checked out (12pm is ckout) went downstairs & came back door was locked! My key was shut off! At 730am! My spouses key also was deactivated. Never had that happen at any Marriott. Then the premium view was of a parking lot, service area, electric tower & some hills. I don't mind the high price, if it's a lovely room but this was not. But this hotel/motel is one I will never return to. What a shame as I read such good reviews, but not sure why after our stay. But such a huge disappointment.
