The Cassara Carlsbad, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

The lobby was nice, breakfast was good. Great because it’s very close to the flower field. There’s a pretty good local brewing company nearby. However, the room and the design was much older than I thought, too much carpet, not modern and nice-looking enough, and the view of the patio was bad, maybe because the room was on the first floor.
Grand Pacific Palisades Resort

The rooms are very large and clean. The pool is divided into adults and children. The children must go to the children's pool every day. There is a great beer house restaurant at the entrance of the hotel. You can solve the problem by visiting Legoland. Outlet is less than 5 minutes drive from the hotel, recommend the Grand Pacific Hotel to Legoland, walk no more than 10 minutes
Carlsbad by the Sea Hotel

In a square, across the road is Ole Ole is close to the hotel. There are seven or eight restaurants on the side of the hotel. There is a free shuttle bus to Legoland. The parking place is 10 meters next to the park gate. It is more convenient and cheaper than own parking! The room facilities are relatively old. The two-story small building before the cycling hotel was surrounded. A small pool can be called a resort hotel. The resort fee is also collected. For the resort fee, you have to go for a swim. Breakfast is better than the room Be average. But look at the price compared with the surroundings. The location and the tip are not too cute to the shuttle driver. I will choose here next time.
Staybridge Suites Carlsbad - San Diego

As soon as we checked in and got to our suite late on Saturday night, we found a foul smell to our room - it was an accessible room. We asked right away to switch rooms and they offered to come and use air freshner as now rooms. We were exhausted after long flight and had young children and no way to open window. We fell asleep and went out next day and by that time figured out it wasn't what front desk said that it was just a hot day and not aired out - guess the previous occupant didn't get their dog out in time and by the tv in bedroom it was a disgusting smell. Just so gross. Second day we asked to move and again, they said they couldn't. They never cleaned and just put air freshner. inally 3rd day we were moved - and this time, ground floor next to basketball courts. Each day we had to ask them to take the basketball as people were playing before 8am and after 10pm. Just crazy. After all this and talking to multiple people, we finally got a night comped supposedly but bet if we check credit card, they never did. Do not stay here. Crowded in hot tub, crowded for breakfast and they don't clean up after people's pets have accidents. Just gross and they didn't make it right by far. Worst hotel experience ever.
Holiday Inn Carlsbad/San Diego, an IHG Hotel

Booked a two night stay here when I was in the San Diego area for work. While the property is aging, I can see that they try to maintain its upkeep pretty well. Unfortunately, there were some issues of concern that made the experience less than amazing. I wasn't expecting an Intercontinental (I've stayed at two ICs this past year) - but being that it is part of the IHG, I was expecting at least decent service. Pros: * The IHG website/app were having issues due to the hack. I finally was able to book a reservation, but called the morning of to confirm. Todd was friendly and efficient, was able to confirm my reservation (booked directly through the hotel), view preferences and noted my late checkout request. * Lili was the front desk agent when I checked in. She was friendly, efficient, knowledgeable. She also was able to notate my late checkout request for 2pm. * I reached out to Lili shortly after checking into my room and noticed what looked like pet hairs (see attached photos) in a corner of the room. She expressed genuine concern after I showed her the photos, and had Yolanda stop by with a vacuum cleaner. * Centrally located to groceries and restaurants (walking distance to Trader Joe's!). * Courtyard view rooms have better noise insulation from the road - a good thing considering that the hotel property fronts a major roadway (Palomar Airport Road). * Rooms have a mini-fridge, which is helpful since most hotels don't offer one. * The hotel's on-site restaurant, Stratus - was open everyday for breakfast/dinner - their buttermilk pancakes are great. Cons: * The pet hair situation led me to wonder what other shortcuts was taken (or not taken) in turning over the room. If you look at the photos, this wasn't a stray pet hair here and there - the amount of hair should've been noticeable if the turnover was just a bit more thorough. * The wireless internet kept cutting out throughout the stay. I'm not sure where the router is, but perhaps the hotel can consider adding a few wireless access points throughout the property, since the signal kept getting dropped. * The walls are thin. I was next to a guy that played his TV on at full blast - it sounded like a concert every night. I could hear vividly his phone conversations (colorful language) too. * Late checkout was inconsistent. Todd noted my request initially over the phone - he said he would be able to offer 1:30pm. Lili upon checkin, confirmed it for 2pm. My card stopped working at 12:30pm when I left to move some of my belongings to my car. I waited behind 3 other guests before I was able to be helped and Veronica asked if I was still checking out at 1pm. I mentioned the later time that Lili offered and even pointed out that had my card still worked, I wouldn't have lost 30 minutes waiting in line and probably would've been able to check out by 1pm. * When I finally managed to get back into my room to remove the rest of my stuff, I went back down to the front desk. Which had four
Homewood Suites by Hilton Carlsbad-North San Diego County

This is a maintenance-challenged hotel. We were there for a four night stay but encountered several difficulties and inconveniences. First, the elevator apparently kept breaking down, resulting in the need to use the stairs on about half of our second-floor room arrivals and departures throughout the visit. Then, the fitness center only had one functioning treadmill during our time there, causing us to lose workout days since it was in high demand. Even that sole operating treadmill had a broken audio Jack and non-functioning video. Finally, the lack of housekeeping meant more trips to the front desk to retrieve more sets if towels. Overall, a disappointing experience.
