I adore Sheila and Stuart not only for the warm welcome they offer everybody upon arrival but also for their high standards and seemingly boundless energy. The adult only campsite is wonderful. It is set around an old chateau that offers a bar and restaurant and both internal and external seating areas. The view from the bar terrace overlooks the swimming pool and tennis court in the distance. In the grounds the emplacements for tents, caravans, and motorhomes offer a range of sizes to suit all needs; with the majority having water and drainage facilities on tap. We have never felt, even in the height of the season, that we were cramped or too close to our neighbours - unless we wanted to be that is, as each plot is large enough for a small gathering of new and old friends. The toilet/shower facilities are for all, with only the separate toilet block being separated between male and females. Which isn't a problem as they are all secure and there are even a couple of 'larger' shower rooms should you need help when showering. The facilities are always clean, but this is due, for the most part, to the care and attention all users give to the facilities; treating them like they are their own which is such a good thing. The pool area has a range of shady and full sun spots and while the pool water isn't heated it is warmed by the abundance of sunshine in the area. In fact, I don't recall it raining during the day any time I have visited the Chateau. You need to remember to: - Select and book your evening meal in advance, and if it isn't quite ready when you arrive (and it is often ready withing a very short while of arriving), the well-stocked bar will keep you watered or wined while you wait. Sheila is a great chef by the way, but she needs to know in advance what to buy for that evening's meals - Remember to order bread, croissants, milk, etc., for the next day before around 4pm. I ordered for the next day as I collected the previous day. Everything is cooked fresh each morning by Stuart. - If you are attending the BBQ evening, be sure to book this well in advance. They often have a band playing for the evening and the whole team participate in cooking and serving at the BBQ, even guests with idle hands and healthy curiosity... Besides camping the site offers a range of gites, holiday homes, and cabins, so there is something for everybody at the Chateau. If you are lucky enough to visit during August you will also get to see the Perseid Meteor Shower. The area is in the 'dark triangle' so remember a blanket, a chair, your binoculars/phone, and a bottle of wine and selection of cheese to sit and watch the sun go down and the meteor firework show begin. You will be in for a real treat! Therefore, as you can imagine, I highly recommend this site for your next adult only camping holiday. Don't be afraid to make friends or visit all the wonderful places in the surrounding area, or just sit by the pool and have a lazy day with the od

My family and I stayed here for 2 weeks in August 2023. We rented a pitch for our own tent. The owners of this Adult-Only camping are easily the most friendly and good-spirited people I've met. They are honest, hard-working, kind and very welcoming. They will do their best to accommodate any situation you might bring up. They even helped me with some car engine trouble I unexpectedly encountered. They try to know all their guests on a first-name basis, and they will learn your preferences. Every guest is treated with a very personal approach. The camping itself has beautiful large pitches, sun and shade spots available, it is extremely quiet and well kept. Perfect for relaxing. There's green forest and grassy hills all around. Unfortunately, that also means a lot of flying insects, but that's part of nature. Best to pack a mosquito/bug spray and you'll be fine. The owners also organized a BBQ event with a band one evening, which was a fun activity with a lot of atmosphere. The owners foresee breakfast items that can be ordered and purchased in the mornings (bread, pastries...). They also sell bottles of wine at the reception. A bar is opened during the night and evening which sells drinks and cocktails. The restaurant is opened in the evenings and serves home-made fresh food made by the owners themselves using locale produce and meat. Guests can choose which meal they wish of a menu. Pizza's are also available for take-away. The closest other restaurants are approximately 5km (Campagnac du Causse in Montfaucon) 10km and 15km away. The closest large supermarket would be 10-12 km in Gramat. Close sightseeing activities would be the town Sarlat de Canada (+-30 km but worth the drive), Cahors, Rocamadour (+-16km, Gramat and many caves like Pech Merle. Some other reviews mention that the toilet/showers are too far away. It is true that some pitches are far away, but seeing how you get to choose and negotiate your pitch location, you can limit the distance according to your preference. For us it was a 2 or 3 minute walk. I did not mind. The camping also has a pool with seating around it and umbrellas for shade. There are also nice flower decorations here and there. A great experience and vacation!

A welcome retreat, adults only peace and quiet, bar, swimming pool, attentive staff, great food, morning croissants etc…. Loads to see and do. We stayed in the Gite, well appointed and clean. The local area is in the quiet part of France, but there is plenty of life around with several easily accessible tourist destinations within easy reach. We will be back at some point, and are looking forward to an annual visit

We stayed at this so called Country Club in June of this year. To be kind the park could be called rustic, it lacks substantial investment and could be described as being faded grandeur. The toilet block is basic and the showers are cold in the morning. There is little room to put your clothes or shoes, there is no dry area on the floor in the cubicle as all the floor gets wet. The pool is a welcome asset, even though it was drained for a few days during our stay to allow for urgent repairs. This again needs substantial upgrading. The first time we used it the water was filthy. Many of the pitches are sloping and during very wet weather the ground gave way under the weight of a caravan or motorhome. Our neighbours had to re site their caravan twice. There was supposed to be a restaurant but it was made clear when we arrived it was plait de jour and needed to be ordered the day before. No surprise we didn’t make use of it. We paid €1044.00 Euros for a 4 week stay, we were charged €145.00 Euros for having a dog and €16.55 Euros for using a card to pay, even though it was a Euro card. A couple arrived in a motorhome and paid for their stay. After looking around they decided they didn’t want to stay, but a refund was refused, even though there is no written ‘no refunds’ policy The owner is all sweetness and light when he’s taking your hard earned cash, but is all too fond of calling people behind their back, unfortunately he does not recognise his own shortcomings. We understand this holiday park has been up for sale for a few years and bookings are down, so there is an explanation of the situation.

We visited this site back in 2016 without a car and wanted to see a few things in the area so came back when we had one. Follow the dictions on the website. The highlight of our many trips out were the Caves at Padriac. Stuart and Sheila are great hosts making you feel really welcome. The site is in a great position for total relaxation, peace and quiet. The pitches are all a great size. The pool is big and the washrooms are spotless although we mainly used the facilities in our motorhome. We had a curry in the restaurant one night and there was a jazz band playing. The food was excellent and a good price and the band weren’t bad either! As the site is set in a forest if you want satellite reception you may be disappointed on some pitches. We had a BIG dish and managed to get reception as we are saddos that have to get our fix of Rugby League, Formula 1 Etc. Phone reception and internet is patchy but didn’t worry us at all. To get any shopping you need to go to Grammat which is about 10 miles away. There’s a LIDL and a big E L’Clerc. Now onto some small recommendations. The pitches and general areas could do with more regular mowing as when we turned up some hadn’t been done for a while and were looking overgrown. To be fair to Stuart, he told us to pick a pitch and if it needed mowing he would come and do it. I just think it would improve the impression of the site if it was done more regularly. The pool does need a bit of TLC to bring it back to the standard we remembered when we last visited. There were tons of flies around our pitch! Nothing anyone can do about this but there were loads! We really enjoyed our stay.

This is our third time at Chateau Lacomte, previous visits were over 10 years ago, from UK, with a caravan. This time we were touring Europe from NZ and stayed in the gite attached to the chateau with family who joined us from UK. We also stayed in our caravan either end of our fortnight and Stuart allowed us to store the caravan on site. We found Stuart and Sheila helpful and very friendly throughout our visit. The gite has a large sitting room, dining kitchen ,two bedrooms, a bath/shower room and a downstairs toilet. It has been sympathetically converted, with exposed beams and wooden floors. The rooms are large, clean with good quality furniture. There was also a TV with internet access (we used our Netflix subscription) a microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and fridge freezer. Both large beds were very comfortable and the bedding great quality. The shower in the bathroom has great water pressure. There was outdoor furniture and sun beds and BBQ in the back garden allowing privacy from the terrace and other guests. We loved our stay and thought it was great value. The swimming pool, a short walk from the gite, was clean, tested daily by Stuart and inspected monthly by local council. We dined at the restaurant on many occasions and the food and wine was excellent. Stuart bakes baguettes, croissants, pan au chocolad and pain au raisin for morning collection, highly recommended. Together with British, Dutch and French guests, we enjoyed a couple of hilarious quiz nights on the terrace! We visited Cahors and Rocamadour and got tickets to a musical event at the Cahors Blues Festival. We recommend the caves at Gouffre de Padarac and the river cruise/walk between Bouzies and St Cirque Lapopie. I also cycled a few road loops from the campsite. The facilities, both camping and in and around the gite were very good. Lacomte is about having a relaxing time. Some of it is old, but that’s part of the attraction. Pitches have privacy, separated by hedges. We can highly recommend spending time here. It is a peaceful oasis and a great place to relax. We will be back for a fourth visit next time we are over from NZ.

A refaire
