Clarion Collection Carmel Oaks Inn

Great location to enjoy all that Carmel has to offer. Surrounded by great restaurants, art galleries and shops. Breakfast worked well, delivered to our room at 8:30 prompt and a nice selection of food. Reception staff very helpful. Room was clean, and well maintained.Excellent reception on the WiFi . All in all a great stay.

We had an outstanding stay here at Clarion Collections in Carmel-by-the-Sea. The location was a block or two from downtown Carmel. Easy walking distance to anywhere we needed to go in Carmel. The room was very clean and looked modern. I thought the value was great. They served the continental breakfast to your room in a cute picnic basket. I would definitely stay here again!

I stayed here for 1 night for the Big Sur Marathon. No minimum night requirement and the location near Carmel Plaza, one of the bus boarding locations, sealed the deal. The facilities are a bit old and run down and the room was a bit small. But that fits with the 2 star hotel rating and the lower end pricing. Noise-wise, there was a bit of leakage from the neighboring rooms where one other guest had an infant and occasional banging could be heard from other rooms that were settling in. Luckily, the other guests seemed to be fellow marathoners and the noise ceased early on. Service was very accommodating for the marathon. Sandy, the front desk host, did a great job providing me with an extra towel, breakfast in a basket before bedtime (I had a 3am wakeup), and late checkout at 12PM. The room was clean with a tiny microwave and refrigerator which were essential for pre-marathon fueling.

We typically stay at this Clarion Carmel Oaks location for two reasons. 1) cleanliness. It has always been pretty clean for an older motel style facility. 2) location, it is within an easy walking distance to the restaurants and shops we usually frequent. 3) is a minor negative, the optional breakfast is a bit of a joke. A basket with a ciuple of pre packaged pastries and granola bars is not worth mentioning as free breakfast. We just choose not to get it since there's so many fantastic restaurants steps away.
