This is a beautiful resort with very well appointed rooms. The suite we had was gorgeous and the complimentary bottle of Rose chilling in the fridge along with a delicious cheese and other snacks was a lovely touch. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and the bed extremely comfortable. Our tasting menu dinner in the restaurant was delightful and room service meals hot and delicious.

Had a wonderful stay in Carmel Valley at Bernardus Lodge, nice to get away from the busy coast. Property and Staff were great and one of my favorate days was the 'stay at the resort day and read a book'. Lots of interesting hikes, dining and shopping to do in Carmel and the valley and this property is in a sweet spot for access. On the value side the resort fee is getting ridiculous and with tax is $80 a night, this is industry wide and should be banned.

the spa staff was rude when I called two weeks in advance to make appoin**ents . I tried through the front desk another time and they could not put me through to spa?I was going to just see what they had upon early arrival. No appoin**ents! when room was finally ready it was not very clean and smelled so bad of bleach that we had to open front and back doors and sit outside for a couple of hrs. The guest above us was so loud starting at 5 am, that was fun. The restaurant was the best part of the property, great staff and food. If you have to pay full price for the stay I would say take a pass. I have traveled all over Europe and the places that we have stayed put this at the bottom of the list.

There is just something about Bernardus that is immediately relaxing and calming. Thoughtful staff, spacious rooms (with heated bathroom floors!), with beautiful mountain scenery makes this a special place. The spa did get a bid crowded (sort of surprising for our Tuesday visit), but not unpleasant. You definitely need a vehicle if you plan to go off property, as nothing is really within walking distance. Verizon cell service did not work at all, but complimentary guest WiFi worked well, and other cell service providers worked well. Food at the restaurant is seasonal and high quality. We love it here!

I’ve been here many times and the service and experience are always on par. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway somewhere that’s not overly crowded this is the place! 5 star experience. Oh and something I always forget to mention is I love the heated floors in the bathroom!
