This is such a beautiful property and you feel it from the exact time they open your car door for you. The staff and the food and drinks are excellent. The view from every room is peaceful.

Everything was great, except the gym… outdated and severely lacking. Local trails helped with getting those steps in… but, still would expect more from a resort/spa for fitness facilities.

The resort is just a lovely place to be. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. The staff so nice and attentive. Good food, Bernardus wines are top-shelf.

We live in the Bay Area and love escaping for a long weekend to the Bernardus. We've been going to Carmel and Monterey for many years and we have stayed at dozens of places in the area. We tried the Bernardus years ago, and now it's our go-to-spot. We love the infinity-edge hot tub. And while there is really good food in Carmel, the food at Bernardus is so good that we end up eating there most of the time.

Bernardus Lodge and Spa Is a true luxury destination set amid sweeping views of Carmel Valley with vineyards in the foreground. The grounds are beautifully maintained and include a rose garden, raised beds to support the kitchens, plus an adorable children’s garden where little visitors get to plant their own seeds and label them so they can return to see how they’ve grown. We stayed in one of the villa rooms which was a well appointed treat! My partner and I enjoyed the generously sized space of the (shared adults only) infinity Jacuzzi and our private outdoor shower, which I appreciated since this is a destination that welcomes families with children - and well behaved dogs too. And though we didn’t use them, the croquet and bocce lawn/ putting green attracted many young families enjoying themselves. I went to the spa to purchase a bottle of the delicious lotion they had in the room. While I was there I toured the spa facilities which looked first rate, but sadly, I didn’t have time to participate in any services. Dinner at the restaurant was spectacular as was the wine list. Our waiter Luis, deserves a shout out for his knowledge and warmth toward our party. The icing on the cake was the fact that they had charging stations for our car too. I love that this is becoming more common. The only negative I have to say is that we didn’t have more time to stay there as there were so many features that we did not have time to explore during our visit. This is a destination not to be missed if you have the chance to visit beautiful Carmel Valley.

The perfect getaway. Clean, well decorated suite. Showering in our private outdoor shower (there are double showers indoors too) in the morning was invigorating. Scheming to come back soon. Peaceful, attentive staff, and their restaurant is also 5 star!
