We enjoyed the food very much indeed. The starters (crispy squid and butternut arancini) were excellent. The sea bream main was also delicious. My beef was very rare so I be asked for it to be cooked a bit more, which was done with no problem. The amount of vegetables and roast potatoes was a bit outfacing and a bit unnecessary although very well cooked: for example there was a large slice of carrot with the beef but a big side of carrots in the mixed veg. I loved my lemon panacotta with rhubarb and the chocolate ganache was also much enjoyed. My only slight criticism was the service was a bit slow: it took too long for our drinks to arrive as the staff looked unsuccessfully for some Worcester sauce to with my tomato juice, and then although there were only three other tables occupied the otherwise very helpful staff took quite a long time to take our order. The main courses also took a rather long time to come I thought. Overall we really liked the restaurant and will definitely come back.

We had the pleasure of visiting this pub a few years ago and being in the area recently we thought we would visit again. How disappointed we were. It used to be a lovely little pub, warm, cosy, charming and full of character. It felt like a proper old English pub. Now however under new management it has changed and not for the better. It now feels just like any other modern, generic gastro pub. All of the charm and character has either been ripped out or covered over, it may as well be a Weatherspoons. We feel as though it has lowered the tone of the village. The food was OK but it feels as though the chef has got ideas above his station and forgotten that this is a small country pub, and not a Michelin star restaurant. Overpriced, small portions of somewhat pretentious food. The staff seemed nice enough, but overall we were hugely disappointed with our visit. The soul of the place has died, it's such a shame.

We were a party of 6 on both business and pleasure. One couple stayed at the Bay Horse and the rest of us made our own way to the venue. A very warm welcome from the owner and the staff could not do enough to settle us in and make us feel at home. A very traditional gastro pub with a great atmosphere. The food was exquisite and passed as fine dining. Cooked to perfection and presented like pictures on plates. Well done Sam Carter - please accept your invitation to appear on Saturday Kitchen. See you again soon.

Me and girlfriend went for Sunday lunch 12/12/21. Really nice cosy place. Landlord gave us a warm welcome and service was excellent. Food looked and tasted amazing and great value for money. Can’t believe I’d never heard of this place before…will definitely be returning though. Thanks :)

I visited here with my best pal last night. Warm welcome received and I was thrilled to see what a fantastic job they have done with the refurb. The rooms are lovely. Now to the food. A small enough menu that you have confidence that all food is freshly prepared and going to be great. The result was clean plates and both of us being more than satisfied. We opted for Monkfish and the Partridge with amazing desserts to follow. Superb food as to be expected from Sam the super chef.
