Carrollton Hotel

Have stayed at this location few times over the past year, plus. Staff is nice and location is clean. Most less satisfactory is the breakfast... earlier stays coffee maker broken, juice machine not completely full of choices. Most recent visit, zero waffle mix in the machine, not empty, just no mix. Hot breakfast, only patty sausage remained. (Admittedly, was there at 8:45, free breakfast concludes at 9am). Of choices available in Carroll Iowa, will remain to book reservations here despite the above.

I did not get the type of room I reserved. Tv didn't work when we got to our room. Hotel clerk had to come fix it.

No hot water and no shower pressure. They had us go to a different room to take a shower that wasn’t cleaned yet, no towels or soaps available either to use for shower.

i wasnt happy with, my stay i could hear the people in the room next to me, the walls are to thin,icould hear them shower,so i know they could hear me also.other than that it was fine

They definitely care about the property and conveniences for their guests. It is the best nonchain hotel I have stayed at.

The pool was freezing. Breakfast was good. Room was clean.

We stayed 3 nights at the Carrollton Inn while attending a memorial service for my uncle in Iowa. During our stay, we opted not to use housekeeping services as we didn't feel it was necessary for this short stay. Prior to checkout, I reviewed the charges on my email and noticed a $250.00 cleaning charge for smoking. My wife and I do not smoke and did not ever smell smoke in the room. When I asked the front desk about this charge the housekeeper said she could smell smoke in the hallway outside our room all weekend. I advised the housekeeper and front desk staff that we do not smoke and it was not accurate to blame the odor of smoke in the hallway as coming from our room. The housekeeper then went into the room and returned to tell us that she could smell smoke in the room. I remembered seeing several employees taking smoking breaks outside the hotel. I asked the housekeeper if she smokes, and she replied "yes". I said of course she could smell smoke because it would linger on her clothes. Not a good system to have a smoking employee determine if someone smoked in their room. At the time of check out, the front desk staff never said they would remove the charge. We left feeling very taken advantage of, as if they had purposely targeted out of state guests. I told them I would be disputing the charge with my bank. A few days later I noticed the charge was credited back to my account. I have left several messages for the General Manager to call me but I have not received any call back. At a minimum, I would have expected someone to contact us during the stay to ask us if we had been smoking in the room instead of waiting until we checked out to incorrectly charge us. This could have been sorted out much more amicably.

I liked the patio option. I didnt like there was stairs involved.

While the room was clean, there were many things that just weren't up to par for what we paid. The remote for the TV didn't work, the bed was very uncomfortable, the a/c-heater didn't work properly, and it was very noisy. In addition, there was no elevator. While this isn't necessarily a problem, b/c there is first floor rooms, I have had some knee issues, and had I known there was no elevator, I would have stayed on the first floor; although, I would have had to pay more for that. During breakfast, the coffee machine was out of order. It just wasn't a pleasant experience, and should have stayed up the road at the Days Inn.
