While General Butler State Resort Park has a lot of natural beauty, the lodge is in disrepair, the restaurant is closed, the pool was closed and the rooms were in extreme need of updating. Staff told us that 2 years ago the sprinkler system had frozen ruining an entire wing of the lodge, the restaurant and the lounge. As of the weekend of June 7,8, and 9, none of that had been remedied. Our family members stayed in the campground and except for the pool being closed, none of this affected them. The staff was friendly and as helpful as they could be, but they could not make up for the lack of services and general state of overall lack of money and workers to make it decent again. I would not go back until I had a the manager at the lodge tell me these things were fixed and in working order. Kentucky advertises it's state parks as

No mini golf equipment. Pool is still out of order. I read where it was out of order in June of 2023 ALSO. These things should be made know while your making the reservation on phone or online. The roads are nicely redone. Security in park seems wonderful.

Room was pretty clean but very musty smelling. Steps and hallways in some area could have been cleaner. Staff did not appear to be happy working there. Park itself was beautiful.

Amazing property and beautiful views! My only complaint would be we were put in a room near a group of mid 70s-late 80s group of women. We couldn’t take a step to the right without there being a complaint on us about noise. We’d been gone all day, get to the room, turn on the tv and eat (no one was talking because we were just exhausted from the day) and boom phone rings about our room being too “noisy” fortunately the young lady at the desk understood exactly what was really going on.

Wonderful overnight stay! Such a peaceful, beautiful park to visit--sorry we weren't staying longer. Room was so nice and clean--very big with an individual balcony. Breakfast was just incredible--a hot buffet with all the goodies plus a fruit and yogurt bar and cereal too. Real restaurant quality. The lodge main room windows overlook quite a view and are fantastic to see--looks like a chapel with wood beams. Definitely would visit again!

This is the best Kentucky state park I've ever stayed in. The physical plant is well kept up. The room was clean and brightly lighted. The beds were comfortable. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to be helpful and welcoming. The supper and breakfast buffets were extensive and delicious. Everyone at this place seems to care about doing a good job and making the customer happy and content.
