Stayed 2 nights here this past weekend. Initial impressions were fine. We had a small twin bedded room overlooking the beach which was the first problem - it was crazy loud, day and night, well into the night. Bedroom was adequate, nothing more. Very run down…beds were uncomfortable, pillow lumpy. Air con was from the 1980’s - loud and leaky. Our room was not serviced so we had to ask for extra towels when we got back late eve. My biggest beef was when I called Room Service to ask for an ice bucket. Chap who took the call said there would be a €12 charge (€6 for the ice and €6 for “tax”. I have never ever had a hotel impose this fee. Made me feel the guy couldn’t be bothered, and the idea of a €12 charge did the job of putting me completely off. I did ask Reception next day if this was the policy and the guy looked at me incredulously, said he would look into it but that was the last I heard. The location cannot be beaten but the hotel needs a massive upgrade. Rooms/bathrooms felt grubby and old fashioned. For the rate we paid (booked directly via hotel website), you can do far better in Cascais. Hard pass for me. I’m being generous giving the hotel 2 stars.
