La Villa Del Re - Adults Only - Small Luxury Hotels of the World

Everything about Villa Del Re was fantastic - the service, the facilities, the pool, the beach and the food were all top-notch! The staff went out their way to welcome us and accommodate all our requests. I loved swimming in the beautiful infinity pool every morning and snorkeling and paddle boarding in the crystal clear warm ocean in the afternoon. Breakfast was fantastic - I loved the healthy museli and my husband couldn’t get enough of the delicious pastries. Can’t wait to return!

Stayed at the Villa Del Re with wife and 5 friends for 5 nights. Hotel looks very good, spacious gardens and nice pool. The adjoining beach is very pleasant, with abundant sunshades and loungers. The staff at the hotel are courteous, helpful and thoroughly professional. The reception staff were always available and helpful in getting taxis organized or providing information on local restaurants. The restaurant staff was attentive at both breakfast and dinner time, giving information and advise. The beach attendants were attentive, laying out towels and offering complimentary water. They helped one of our group with a mobility problem, getting onto the beach and into and out of the water; much appreciated. Breakfast was very good, with great variety and good quality. Dinner was similar. We had a wonderful time at this hotel. Highly recommended.

We did a 2 week long driving trip around Sardinia and this was the absolute BEST hotel we stayed in for the entire trip. We only had 2n here but would have happily stayed much longer. The staff were all incredible, from the second we checked in and throughout our entire stay, the attention to detail and care they took with guests was top notch. We ate at both of the restaurants on property and each meal was amazing. The hotel was also able to arrange a two hour boat excursion with a skipper/captain that was awesome and took us to a really cool snorkeling spot on a little island way off shore. We were told by the front desk that most guests return almost every year and I can completely understand why! This property is really special and is a MUST for any itinerary with multiple stops in Sardinia. Besides the overall amazing experience, some other highlights were the pool bar sunset cocktails and a really fun cheese tasting we did after dinner at the fancier restaurant. I could go on and on, but this place really is amazing and definitely worth the cost. It is a SLH property and it's worth checking their rates when booking

Easily one of the most beautiful and luxurious hotels we’ve stayed in; we had just gotten engaged and the staff here made us feel like royalty. We had a fabulous view of the sea and a private balcony; the bed was so comfortable. Only the lure of that tremendous infinity pool and the ocean and their DELICIOUS daily breakfast could get us up and out each day! The staff can’t do enough for you; they arranged our boat tours which is a must in Sardinia, the coves and beaches are to die for. They also recommended several great local restaurants to try, although their 2 restaurants on property are lovely. This place is a must.

We have just returned from our incredible few days at La Villa del Re. We reccomend this hotel for anyone who just wants to switch off and unwind. With the most amazing views you could wish for overlooking the sea and the incredible helpful, friendly and attentive staff from the start to the end where we were given a courtesy room to shower and change before the airport. Every little detail was covered and if not all you had to do was ask and it would be. The staff who we met were superb. The ladies on reception Prisca (who helped with our room booking), Francesca, Rita and Eleonora. The breakfast’s with Debora (meeting us) Diego (matre d’) guieseppe Jana, Giada, chiara, Nicoli, Fredrico In the evening with in the Palme with Diego Ivan (who made us the most wonderful Crepê Suzettes) And at Bella Vista. Matteo (matre d, his house!) Ivan (wine sommelier) was so helpful and generous with his time. Very knowledgable. I am sorry if we have missed anyone off (or misspelt names) but we had the most amazing time and certainly will be back. Thank you for all making our stay wonderful. Ed and Rosie

I had the pleasure of staying at this 5 star Hotel and it was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment i arrived, the staff were attentive, friendly, and professional, ensuring every aspect of my stay was perfect. The location and facilities exceeded my expectations and i cannot think of a better place to stay for a relaxing, indulgent getaway. I will return next year.

The rooms are okay - I would not say they are 5* as they are quite dated. During this trip we stayed at two other 5* hotels in Italy (one in Ravello, one in Sardinia), and this hotel was definitely the weakest. The grounds, gardens, and the pool are beautiful, the beach is nice (but not special), and service at the restaurants was good. The waiters and the sommelier at the beach restaurant (Bella vista?) were the best part of the hotel. Very accommodating and very nice, the younger somm was very knowledgeable. When we arrived on day one by car nobody greeted us, and we weren’t sure where reception was. Parked the car, found reception and then they showed us to a room after a lengthy checkin (it was our honeymoon as we got married 2 days prior, and we had communicated this), which was very disappointing. I didn’t take a picture but the rooms only/main window looked into the balcony separator of another room. If you went out on the balcony you could see a little bit of sea though, but the room was very small and dark. Without lights on the room was totally dark. They claimed this was an upgrade from a “garden view” already. So we paid for an upgrade to a junior suite / suite(?) which was a good size and looked into the forest/trees. They didn’t bring over the complimentary water or wine from the other room, until we asked for it far later in the day. There was a small crack in the bathroom tiles where ants came through. Breakfast was good, and breakfast buffet + some a la carte was served at the table. Our upgraded suite/room, that we paid extra for, had ants every day. Housekeeping or service staff walked into the room 3 or 4 times without knocking during our 4 night stay. They never removed the grapes/cookies they brought on day 1, so that brought more ants. We asked about horseback riding on Wednesday, for Thursday or Friday, they said they would get back to us but then never heard back from the hotel/concierge. On the last evening I had the local seafood specialty at Bella Vista and it made me so sick I spent the entire next 2 days very very sick. From Friday morning until Saturday night when we landed back in US, I only ate a couple crackers and dry bread. They didn’t agree to late checkout. We wrote the hotel about all these issues, and never heard back. This is indicative of the service level at the property. When we left, we went to the Conrad, another 5* hotel about 1.5 hours away. Service was better, rooms were nicer, price was similar. For half the price this would be a nice 4* hotel. We don’t think this is a 5* hotel and would not be back. 5* needs a proper concierge, more staff by the door, bathtub, not just shower, etc.
