We cycled to pub from home - bar staff very kindly helped us store bikes for safety by opening a side door as they don’t serve food outside the front of pub We had venison carpaccio and fish and chips excellent fish - chips not good - great desert lovely iford cider

We only used the restaurant at the Castle Inn. The food was mediocre, I'm afraid. They should get someone who knows about cheffing! One was left with a sense of indifference to a transitory public one finds in tourist traps. Yet the village itself is lovely, and there are many beautiful villages and towns to be explored in the region.

This is an elegant place outside the entry of the manor house hotel. The place is really nice, decorated with style. We had burgers. They were homemade, huge burger, but a bit salty though. The staff were nice but could be more friendly.. The village is worth visiting

Popped in here last week for a lunch on a blustery, wet and dank Tuesday, had no booking and was passing by, plus had wanted to try it for a while, and so glad i did, turned into ma fantastic last minute lunch. The Inn is cosy, well furnished and despite having had a makeover retains true to it's roots as a village pub, Castle Combe is tricky, inhabited by tourist's and passers through mostly, or people staying at the Hotel or playing Golf. It's got no locals apart from a handful in the village, who generally stay indoors as the Tourist masses can feel very invasive. It's beautiful, but i wouldn't want to live there. Service from a young team was mostly good, friendly, informal and fairly quick, had a Lovely Asparagus, Egg and Mayonnaise starter, a Spring lamb dish which was ambitious and mostly worked, the Lamb was slightly over cooked, but that apart was a lovely dish, the real high light was a stunning Warm chocolate pudding, with a crispy toppeing, malt ice cream and toffee sauce, easily one of the best dessert's ive ever eaten, rich, decadent, textured and executed perfectly, would not have been out of place in a Michelin starred fine dining restaraunt, let alone a village pub, stunning. Was not cheap, or expensive, starter and main both £10, main course £30, about right, didnt'e have coffee as none was offered, the only hiccup service wise, by the time i left it appeared fairly obvious the team were in wind down mode, but that aprt a really excellent lunch overall.

Excellent stay, three old school friends meeting up after many years. Staff were great and so welcoming. Rooms lovely and clean and bedding so crisp and comfortable. Food was really tasty and presentation very good. Only recommendation would be to have a residents only lounge area as I could imagine it would get very busy in high season. All ready planning our return trip.

Having heard the food was wonderful, we were sorely disappointed. I ordered the daily special, a fish and shellfish pie with a side of carrots. It was hot and tasty bit I can’t say there was any shellfish in the pie. The carrots would have been much better if they had actually been WASHED before cooking! They had tiny roots sticking out from the sides and dirt and grit in the crevasses! My husband had the vegetarian option, a potato rosti. It was grossly overcooked with a rubbery fried egg on top. The potato appeared grey and he had difficulty cutting it with a knife, finally giving up with about half of it to go. They were not busy at all and at a price of £20 and £19 respectively, there was no excuse. I’d pass this one by and try the other pub across the street.

I have a gluten allergy and the menu at the Castle Inn was fabulous with most options being gluten free. I had the beetroot starter, fish and chips and rice all of which were delicious. The staff were all very friendly and service was excellent. I am already planning my next visit!

Well run pub with professional, polite and attentive staff. Clean, cosy and everything you want from an old pub with a chef that knows how to make and cook great food. Best pub we tried in the area! Well done all 😀 ps well behaved dogs are allowed, too
