My wife and I have recently returned from a 7-day stay at the Liberty Hotel in Catania. On our arrival we were given a warm welcome by Silvio, the motel Manager, who provided us with a map of the city and took the time to note it with recommended sights to see and routes to them (the hotel is about a 10-minute easy walk from the hotel. Our suite was superb (we were given an upgrade to this). The suite was spotless, luxurious, well-appointed and quiet (as is the whole hotel). Breakfast was delicious, comprising a continental breakfast, with plenty of choice, with the option to request cooked items including bacon and eggs of various types, at no additional charge. Silvio provided advice on local tours which we took up. The hotel has a good relationship with Etna Tribe, a local tour company who offer a wide range of local tours. We went on three Etna Tribe tours first to Mount Etna and a nearby winery; second to Siracusa, and Neto and, finally, a tour to hilltop village locations used in the filming of the Godfather trilogy and a lovely small hilltop town called Taormina. All 3 tours are recommended, are good value for money, and can be regarded as exclusive private tours because Etna Tribe only take parties of a maximum of 8 people in good quality minibuses. Silvio’s colleague Antonio provided us with excellent restaurant recommendations (our favourite was Ristorante Be Quiet, about 10 minutes’ walk from the hotel). We had a brilliant week at the Hotel – its ambience, all staff and overall welcome are superb. We would like to thank Silvio, Antonio and all members of staff at the hotel for providing us with an excellent break and commend the Liberty Hotel to potential customers.
