Absolutely loved Hodges Bay, I don’t really understand the negative reviews. Okay the cushions on the beds were a bit tatty but that one tiny negative does not detract from the overall excellence. Every member of staff we met was friendly and helpful and our room right onto the beach was amazing. Can’t comment on service to the sunbeds because it doesn’t sit right with me to lay in the sun and summon staff to me. We go to the bar and eat food at a table. Having said that, the staff at the beach bar always came to offer us drinks. The beach was great, very little sea**** and nice warm and clear sea. Prickly Pear was awesome, one of the best beach days we’ve had. Hodges is a 4.5/5 not quite a 5 due to needing a bit of a spruce up. Had 1 meal from the all day menu it was ok, but not great but we rarely eat in hotels cos most times it’s ordinary food at extraordinary prices. Go to Dawne’s for lunch or Cecilia’s for dinner.

We wanted to love this hotel, but there were so many things that were far from good. First off, the food was mediocre at best, almost to the point of embarrassment for a hotel of this caliber. Rooms are nice, but there was no curtain in our bedroom, and there was no umbrella on the balcony so impossible to sit out there. One day, we were out of our room from 7.30a.m -5:00p.m - came back and room not cleaned or restocked. Beach loungers falling apart and not enough umbrellas. Staff raking sea**** all day and just leave the boards along the shoreline for the wheelbarrows 24/7 for guests to trip over. The famous “Prickly Pear Island” was in a state of disrepair and the food there was even worse. We were given the run around for our late check out, even though the hotel was empty, and we were paying for it. No offer of help for bringing down luggage even though there are many stairs (no elevators and minimal ramps). Overall the hotel is not maintained at all, except for the stunning lobby area. I think that whoever is managing this hotel needs a serious wake up call. It’s a shame because it has such great potential. We will not be returning or recommending it. It is not worth the $.

This was the second time we come to Hodges bay resort, first time was two years ago and was an amazing experience, this time not as much , we had a suite that is pretty old and needed renovation , bathroom had a broken toilet , missing shower parts, not enough towels even though the reservation is for 5 ppl. Bathroom door wasn’t closing right, , we had to request the room to be cleaned , staff was very nice though , hope that these comments will help improve the quality of the hotel for future residents

Absolutely loved our stay! Beautiful beaches and access to prickly pear was the best! Great spot for my husband who is a kite surfer! Highly recommend!

Location was good. Hotel design and layout was nice. Well equipped gym. Particularly, liked the hot tub by the pool overlooking the sea. However, rooms were plagued with constant maintenance issues with water supply. Better communication with guests needed. Considering the amount paid expected a lot more value for money.

I loved the location of this resort. It had a beautiful private island. The staff was polite and helpful. The drink service was quick and the food was good. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and lunches. The food service was slow though. The room was clean and comfortable. It was decorated differently on the website photos, but still nice. We easily got taxis to restaurants in the area. The weather is perfect too. It was close to St. John's and we enjoyed a nice lunch, shopping at the port, and dinner at Hemingway's another evening. The Bistro was also a great restaurant close to the resort. The biggest thing this resort is missing is some live entertainment at night. It always adds to the experience. Also, they should inform people about their amenities like the private island, water aerobics, etc! A schedule of activities and some suggestions are always helpful to newbies on the island! It was close the airport too. The best way to get back and forth is a taxi. If you are there a few nights, try to go to Shirley's Lookout on Thursday or Sunday nights. It had live music and food. We also had fun snorkeling on Capt. Sean's sailboat. We had a wonderful adventure with him. He provided food and drinks and we snorkeled off the reef.
