This hotel is in a very convenient location. It is situated in the main square. It has tea and coffee making facilities and a mini bar. Car can be parked overnight just outside, but there is parking meter. The hotel has a lift and very substantial buffet breakfast. Beds are comfortable and bathroom sizeable. Hotel very clean and room was very bright

The Grand Hotel Zvon is probably in one of the best locations in all of Budweis. You can do practically everything on foot and there are lots of small shops that are ideal for shopping, as you can buy a lot of things very cheaply here.
The Zvon is of course not a 5* hotel as you might imagine, and apart from the hotel and the rooms it wouldn't even reach 4 stars. The breakfast, which you can enjoy in a very nice large hall, is mediocre to good. There are parking facilities in the hotel, a little difficult, which cannot be avoided, as the cars have to be transported to the first floor with a car lift. Parking is expensive by Czech standards, but still cheaper than on the street in front of the hotel, where parking times are limited everywhere. The restaurant, old and furnished like it was 50 years ago, is very good and the prices are very reasonable. We went there twice and were not disappointed.
On our next visit to Budweis we will stay at the Zvon again, even if we have to accept a few minor sacrifices.

We have stayed in this hotel many times in recent years, always for one night on the way there and back from Austria. In our opinion, the hotel has gone downhill a lot. The prices for one night have more than doubled, the rest have gone downhill. Parking in the hotel costs €24, but in the parking lot in front of the hotel it costs around €20. The staff were very unfriendly in some areas and anything but service-oriented. We had to sit at a table with complete strangers from South Korea at breakfast because none of the staff felt compelled to open the additional breakfast room.
The only nice thing about the hotel is the location and the delicious breakfast. However, we will not stay here again, we particularly did not like the unfriendliness and lack of motivation of the staff.
