This place is just a block off the Camino trail. We were in room 109 which was relatively large, had two twin beds and old hardwood floors. A drawback was there just a wood door between our room and the room next door and we could hear their conversations. The guy at the front desk desk was extremely helpful. The breakfast was good.

Hotel con una ubicación excelente, habitaciones correctas y muy buena limpieza. Desayuno completo. Lo mejor del hotel es el personal que te hace muy agradable tu estancia, tengo que destacar la atención de Rui (recepción) con todas sus recomendaciones muy acertadas y con una disponibilidad para ayudar increíble. Gracias a todo el equipo.

This Hotel exceeded all our expectations. It had a excellent staff who helped us with everything we requested from Taxi help to advise on great restaurants to sites to visit. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was always well kept with fresh fruit and juice as well as a taste of European cuisine. Thank you so much for the great service and comfortable stay.

Casa Melo Alvim, a lovely boutique hotel located in the historic centre of Viana do Castelo, Portugal, provides exceptional service and well appointed rooms. The staff are always smiling and attentive. Specifically, We need to acknowledge Rui, who checked us in, helped us move our car to the correct parking location, and speaks English fluently. We had an enjoyable conversation about dogs and cats. He’s a serious animal lover (as are we)! Our conversation with Rui was the perfect start to our vacation in Viana do Castelo! We hope to return to this wonderful hotel.

Es un viaje interesante: podria hablar de confor de la habitación, de lo bueno de su desayuno, de su buena situación, de su limpieza... pero es que es algo mas... todo lo que he dicho es real...pero hay que hablar de mas...de su atención siempre...hablando de Rui, alguien que te dara consejos,que se preocupara de ti, como si fuera un asistente personal... o de la directora, que se desvive porque todo vaya bien...yo os recomiento que vayais y lo esperementeis por vosotros mismos... el precio increible.... que vayan aprendiendo muchos hoteles españoles que dicen que rozan la excelencia, porque tal vez... estan perdiendo brillo... con un lugar tan especial, como este hotel.

Unacceptable, we left money stored in our things and here I am, surprised to have money stolen by the staff. A refund gesture is being made by the director but it does not correspond to the amount stolen! And a complaint is in progress.

This is a beautifully quirky little hotel with a nice location. Loads of character, a tonne of history, but with modern facilities. Breakfast was good, but avoid busy times - especially when the big groups of walkers are there. Fun bar with great beer choices!
