Booking site said check in at 5. We arrived to find no one there. We called out and then sat in the bar and rang and rang. A woman appeared at 5.20 who said we should not be there as not open til 5.30 and walked away. People did turn up at 5.30 but room not ready. Eventually got into room at 5.40. Bed mattress old and rolled to center. No milk for tea. Dark hair on cistern. Bad soundproofing and the person upstairs left at 6 after noisy banging around for 15 minutes. Curtains very light and not effective. Plumbing noisy.

Really cute village pub with great food and really friendly service. Generous portion of whitebait to start and then a delicious mushroom risotto. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Chagford.

Friendly staff, lovely room shower a little small but adequate. Food in the pub brilliant and well priced.

Very freindly and welcoming. Food in the pub was fabulous. Accommodation was clean and convenient. Woukd be very happy to reckomend as well as go back and stay again. Offered secure storage for mountain bikes

Average pub grub. Amateur service. Perhaps a bleak mid week visit in December is not the best time to visit. But if you are the only customers in the pub, it is not too hard to give your best. Staff training is the key. Which sits with the management. Could do better...

Room was spotlessly clean and had lots of room especially for luggage Tea/coffee and fresh milk provided Lovely fluffy white towels Fabulous toiletries Great Host in a wonderful pub steeped in history and in a delightful town in Dartmoor! Just perfect! We will be back!

What a find ! We were more than delighted to find a superbly run restaurant by such a young talented & enthusiastic team. From the owners who are front of house and in house chef to the attentive and knowledgeable young waitress. One of the best restaurants we have been to outside London .Very fairly priced and very special. A small but beautifully balanced menu which is adventurous, modern, and well thought out. We will most certainly return & highly recommend you to anyone looking for a really relaxed evening out.
