Ring O Bells

Such a lovely place to stay. Very accommodating very clean. Staff and locals welcoming. Food was great. I did worry that there might be an issue with noise but I was wrong. The pub was really busy and this didn’t impact on our sleep. Would recommend and will go back again.

Good traditional pub accommodation, big room overlooking village square, clean and the bed comfortable, bathroom adequate. Menue looked like pubgrub, but when it was.delivered to the table, far exceeded any pubgrub I've had. Steak and kidney pudding one of the best, plenty of tender kidney, a rare thing these days. Will revisit.

Fine for a short stopover. Old Pub in the Market Square. Some street noise late evening and some early deliveries at local businesses. Excellent breakfast served by friendly staff. Good evening crowd inPub

Briefly... I booked the Ring of Bells because its really local and we could have some beer and go upstairs. On the way (Sunday 17.00) we got a phone call saying the Ring of Bells closes at 18.00, where are you. On the threshold of the village, see you in a minute ... At the bar the nice young lady blurted out , " That'll be 120£ then" ! In front of the four or five finishing their pints. I didn't like that much, but we're shown up to a cold and tired room. I'm sure Mr M is going to renovate soon ! Bed was good. All was clean, but christ was it tired. What time would you like breakfast ? Nine o'clock, " Ok, I'll book the table in the Three Crowns, three doors up" Great thank you. Aye ? So breakfast was served of cheap sausage, tough ole bacon, a pot of beans of course, half a tomato and watery ole poached eggs. I think I saw canned fruit salad on the self serve table. I'm not a complainer normally and I've been trying to get Mr M's email for the last half hour. Knowing him a bit I'd have written to him direct, and I'm only a sailor boy up from Falmouth. Just a bit of quality would of been nice.

Lovely little pub on the High Street, clean friendly staff and nice atmosphere. The chef came out chatting to us and crazily enough knows wigan well! Lovely man! Very good quality home cooked food, highly recommended.

We booked a night here with our autistic son and elderly mother in law. Paid with *********** in good faith. However, hotel then cancelled booking. Supposedly double booked but more likely got a longer booking. Why not tell us sooner otherwise? So we must wait for our refund, seven to twelve days.

We stumbled upon here by chance after going for a long hike in the area. The pub was exactly what the doctor ordered on a cold, windy afternoon! Very warm and friendly welcome and excellent pub grub at really reasonable prices. The homemade garlic bread was especially good! We’d like to have stayed longer and sampled a couple more of the local ales but sadly had to drive back to our accommodation. We’ll definitely return when next in the area. The perfect friendly country pub!
