This holiday inn express appears to have undergone some renovations. However, this one almost made me never want to stay in express again! The front desk lady was super nice! Check in was easy. The front area is super tiny and so are the rooms. Although clean enough to not feel like I wanted to go running, the tub has a nice dingy ring around it. The door hinges , TP holder and outlet covers are tell tell signs of how old the hotel is. The door has old holes where slide locks and the other hardware used to be. There are noticeable inches of Clearance where the light and even people walking by can be seen. The fold out bed is inches from the AC vents and the people in that bed will surly freeze! Once the bed in u folded there are near inches between everything making the inability to navigate to the bathroom in the middle of the night. The breakfast had the normal fair of an express but the sausage was so hard you couldn’t cut them. I was excited that they at least had bananas that were fresh and good. The area to eat is very small and if you have no other choice but to sit against the wall in front of the window you will be blinded by the morning sun, a nice set of sun blocking shades. Again. For a king suite size and the prices of this hotel I cannot recommend this location! There is a courtyard hotel feet away that from the outside looked very nice. Charleston was clean and other than parking issues it was a nice stop on our trip.
