……. due to the extreme differences between the quality of accommodation, breakfast, service, etc. Solely on accommodation quality, this hotel is 5 star. A great use of the original building features and good quality bedding/linens and room facilities. Unfortunately, other aspects of our stay were very disappointing. This started with breakfast. For an establishment of this quality/price, the offerings were VERY poor, much lower than you would find in a Holiday Inn EXPRESS ! When we arrived at 9am we saw a dried out bowl of oats, some mass produced boil in a bag egg type disk shaped ‘things’, some slices of what could only be described as hot dog meat, and the only bread selection was FOUR blueberry(I think) bagels. We were never greeted by a server, we were never offered a coffee from the espresso/latte machine(not self serve) and when we enquired about the lack of bread choice, a lady who brought food from the kitchen told us “that’s it, there’s no more, everything else is frozen”, before she turned around and walked away. We brought the breakfast situation to the attention of the person on the front desk, only to be presented with a less than friendly customer orientated reply, basically telling us, “that’s what’s available …. there’s more than one egg … and yes other bread is frozen” The lady who we’d discussed the bread situation with then appeared with bags of frozen bread options, along with a major attitude, and proceeded to slam the bags on the counter and re-fill the bread box, while telling everyone close to her …. “I told you they were still frozen”. She was obviously having a bad day. The front desk representative then did their best to ensure we didn’t communicate our dissatisfaction with the manager. However we did manage to find him and detail our breakfast experience. He apologized and stated he would compensate us for our experience. The compensation didn’t go smoothly (being DEBITED on our account rather than CREDITED) but eventually everything was resolved. I hope the hotel can learn from our experience and implement the necessary improvements, most importantly with the quality of breakfast and also with some staff training. As the hotel itself is excellent.

We loved our 5-day stay here. Fabulous location walking distance to all the restaurants, nightlife, shopping, Waterfront Park. Chose it because of proximity to Waterfront Park ferry to Daniel Island, but also has convenient freeway access to drive to island. Reasonably priced self-parking. Nice breakfast included. Couldn’t have enjoyed it more!

Great hotel in old Charleston area. The room was spacious and very inviting. Great rooftop terrace to relax on after day of walking. Negative- seating options for breakfast not very user friendly

The experience was great! They were accommodating to us and our needs!Friendly

1. broken cold water faucet in bathroom known by staff previous day but no warning or apology regarding inconvenience. 2. swarming termite infestation in room with staff response that they had other rooms closed due to the termites but unaware of any previous reports in our room. 3. Charged $454/night in room that friend paid $340 the night before (Tues & Wed nights) Total bill $3129.08 for 4 nights with friend paying $2827.58 for larger room and one more night. Manager explained this was a "special discount". (not apparent on web site or known by my friend when he booked stay.

Perfect location, very walkable. Great bar and decor. The hotel is beautiful. The staff (Luis and Kelly) were very helpful and friendly. The bed was too soft for my taste but the room and bathroom was spacious and tall ceilings were a plus. The complimentary use of umbrellas was another plus as we well unlucky to get quite a bit of rain. Charleston floods pretty fast so get cover fast.

Great hotel within walking distance of everything you could want. We rented bikes and kept them at the hotel and really made the most out of the city each day. Be sure to check out the old residential areas at night with the gas lanterns. Also about 1/2 hr away from Folley beach.

Great location and a very comfortable stay. Staff was helpful with recommendations for dinner and the bars welcome cocktail was delicious.

Great place to stay in Charleston. Very clean, friendly staff and perfect location to walk to anywhere downtown. Parking was right in front of the hotel and complimentary breakfast included.
