Very nice hotel. Middle of downtown so walking was the way to go. I would have liked to know that it was valet only, which I dont like, and the fact that it was going to cost me 98 bucks for the 2 days we were there...I might have chosen a different place. But overall it was nice. Big room, small tvs but we were out exploring, and you have full control over the AC. The hotel itself is the original Citadel which is really awesome staying in a piece of history.

I stayed at the Embassy Suites in Charlestown, S.C. from August 1-4, 2025, and it was my worst experience at a Hilton property in over 30 years as a Hilton Honors member. The room had poor paintwork, stains on the carpet, a malfunctioning ceiling light, mold in the bathroom, and pests including a roach and evidence of mice. The bathroom was especially bad. In the shower stall someone painted over peeling paint, and the handicap shower head and holder were broken. Nighttime noise from water pipes disturbed our sleep. After changing rooms, conditions were still subpar. Staff service was average, and both the breakfast and evening receptions were disappointing. Housekeeping was only every other day without notice, which is unacceptable for the price. This poor experience led me to cancel a future reservation, and I did not receive any follow-up survey from Hilton. Ultimately, I hold Hilton responsible for failing to uphold their standards.

Pro: great location and great potential, beautiful entry. Con: room was desperately in need of renovation. Carpet stained and unraveling, furniture looked like it was 50 years old; worn and out dated. Two double suite with beds pushed up against the walls. Horrible lighting. I would suggest you stay at a different location.

The Embassy Suites Hotel in Charleston is about 30 years past due for a total renovation. i would not stay there again. The room needed to be painted - the carpet was old and needs replacing, the couch was broken - you could not sit on 1/2 of the couch because it was sinking in. The shower stall handle was broken, my wife almost got scolded. We reported it, it was not fixed, it came off again the next morning, she almost got scolded again..

We arrived very early on Christmas Eve and the hotel was very accommodating by letting us park early. Wallace, the valet, parked our vehicle near the entrance so when we checked in, it was easy to get our things. Check in was a breeze and the staff made us feel welcomed. The room was what we expected, and as mentioned in other reviews, I enjoyed the exposed brick walls from the original building. The evening reception was very basic with chips and dips and the bar was limited, but it was still enjoyable. The breakfast in the morning was typical and you could get an omelette made to order if you lie. Great location and staff and we would stay again when in Charleston.

This property is so pretty on the outside and the lobby was nice but that's where it ended. It's an older property and is need of repairs. It didn't feel clean. The carpet was dirty, the bathroom tiles were broken and grout was dirty. We really wanted to enjoy our stay here but did not. The breakfast however was great and our Valet person today was nice and accommodating. The person that checked us in last was less than pleasant as was the Valet yesterday. At one time I'm sure it was a beautiful property but now, not so much. I would advise you to book another hotel!

Dani was awesome and gave us recommendations and discounts. I work in hospitality and she went above and beyond. I can't wait to come back.

The hotel, furniture, and common areas are tired and worn. There tv was pixilated the first night and didn’t work at all the second. Our room only had one window and it was so high on the wall that you couldn’t see out of it. The rooms are clean and the shower was good. The best part of our stay was the hotel staff. They all were friendly, helpful and took pride in whatever job they were doing. Breakfast was very good.
