Take your own toilet paper! Worse than filling station toilet paper!

Staff, especially Paolo were great and helped us a lot, especially taking care of my daughter with disabilities. Room 104 was musty, Housekeeping was below par, small toiletries such as hand soap and lotion are not replaced each day. Tip: reserve dinner in advance as it’s busy on the weekends. Internet in room 234 was non-existent. We’ve stayed at the French Quarter inn a few times, though it’s not as historic, much more predictable. Overall for a $5000 (stay, F&B and incidentals) for 2 nights, it missed the mark

Romantic, great location, relaxing. Loved the courtyard seating of the piazzo. Great cake! While we are dinner at other fine dining establishments slightly better than the Peninsula Grill, it was fun to dress up and walk right from our room to a fine establishment.

When you walk into the Planters Inn, you feel like you have been enveloped in one big hug. It is not large which makes it feel so intimate. The staff is so friendly, the rooms are delightful and I highly recommend it. The location is excellent, right across the street from the City Market and the Charleston Place.

I booked the hotel for a special night for my husband’s birthday. ALL the staff were extremely welcoming and accommodating. The hotel is beautiful, romantic, and clean. I booked a grand king room and was allowed to check in early. Our room was spacious and comfortable. We ventured out to explore Charelston before dinner and were pleasantly surprised to find a complimentary piece of coconut cake with champagne. Delicious!! After a wonderful dinner at the Pennisula Grill we arrived back to our room only to find the air was not working. I reported to the staff and they immediately sent someone to check the unit. Unfortunately the air could not be repaired that evening and we were immediately relocated to another room. I DO NOT blame the inn for the issue- we did visit during an extreme heat wave! The staff were VERY responsive and made the best effort to provide another room for us. The new room was cool just not quite as large as the previous; however, this was not an issue. The ONLY reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was the mattress - The bed was horribly uncomfortable - very disappointing considering the price we paid - Just hard to believe an inn of this caliber would even have mattresses that were so worn. Overall I’d most likely come again and give them another shot due to the warm hospitality and ambience

Perfect location for many of the city activities. Hotel had old world charm with beautiful rooms. Service was outstanding and the elderly gentleman at the front desk gave us many wonderful ideas on places to go and things to do

This is old world charm….bougie before bougie was even a word. The rooms were top notch - huge, luxurious, and perfect! If we didn’t love going out in Charleston so much, we’d have stayed and enjoyed the rooms even more! Book rooms 314 or 315 if you can - you will love them!! We ate several meals at the Penninsula Grill- the coconut cake was out of this world, of course. But the prime rib, the swordfish, the salmon, and alllll the sides were a slice of heaven. The highlight for us? The staff - especially Kory, the bartender. We stayed for 4 days, and we felt like old friends when we left. He is an amazingly kind and thoughtful human - and his Espresso Martinis are the best! If I could give the Planters Inn an 11 out of 10, I would. One thing I know for sure? We will be back!!

This place is way past its prime. For all of the new hotels going up in Charleston. It makes the planters in look like an archaic barn. Lots of work needs done. In fact, a whole gut needs work. The lighting is dim. The paint is chipped. The carpets worn. The fixtures are old. The rooms are 20 years old. This place needs a total gut job. Especially being next to one of the best restaurants in Charleston and with a Four Seasons going up right across the street. I only stayed here because it was the cheapest location on ******* with three hours notice. And reason I would never spend money to bring my wife here on a nice weekend. The place is a dingy bucket.
