The front desk had a straight face, and valet parking at the door was RMB 25 a day, plus additional tax. The room is large, the hot water is not hot enough, and the bathroom does not have much heat. I dare not take a shower for too long for fear of catching cold. The hotel itself is nice, has a sense of history and is well maintained.

Very lovely old, old hotel in downtown Chattanooga. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and both the food as well as service were excellent!

Read Hotel is a beautiful historic hotel. The lobby is classic and our Manor room was well appointed. We encountered two problems though. The front desk clerk was very short with us at checkin and seemed annoyed to answer our questions about valet parking. But, most importantly, our room was so very noisy at night. The walls are paper thin and we heard every conversation in the neighboring room. Also, the doors in our hallway closed with a loud bang every time a guest closed their door. It was one of the worst nights of sleep we have ever encountered in a hotel. At checkout the clerk did not greet us except to ask if we wanted our receipt printed or emailed. No “How was your stay?” was asked. We chose not to complain to her at checkout as she didn’t seemed concerned about us as guests.

Stayed at The Read House on business after hearing rave reviews from my coworkers. It definitely still has that Gatsby look and feel which is fun. Without request, we were given a 3rd floor room, just a few doors down from the infamous room 311. Our Premiere King room (a Historic Tower Room) was very spacious and well-maintained. There was a lot of car/traffic noise where we were at, but nothing a noise machine couldn't help. If you drive in, know that valet (for $25 per night) is the only hotel parking option, but I was informed that there was also self-parking in garage across the street. We found a couple of really great, affordable restaurants within walking distance so getting around without a car (if desired) isn't difficult.

Everything was nice, including staff, and the hotel was like the photos on social media and booking apps. The only thing I didn’t like is that our refrigerator did not work in our room the entire weekend so our food spoiled and we had no microwave in our room.

We stayed in a standard king room which was very spacious. It was clean and the hotel was quiet. The valet parking was easy and checking in and out was very simple. We liked being able to leave our room keys in the room when we left rather than having to go to the front desk. It was also very centrally located and we were able to walk to everything we wanted to do. We will definitely be back!

Stayed one night at the Read House in the main building Luxury Queen Suite. It was superb. Hotel is beautifully decorated like 1920’s. Played billiards and peaked at the indoor pool. The house champagne was light and sweet. The bar has comfortable seating. The beds are comfortable.
