No131 the Promenade

Fantastic hotel, attention to detail in rooms first class. Super cozy and comfy. Slept really well in room full of character. Original features in room take you back in time and really appreciate the history of the building, Lovely coffee and stocked mini bar. Breakfast superb.

We booked a reservation for 131 The Terrace for dinner. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted and treated so very well. What a brilliant atmosphere. The service was very good. The soufflé we both ordered was delicious. We both ordered brevet steak, differently cooked to each other absolutely perfect. The sauce to accompany the steak peppercorn for my husband, bernaise sauce for me were both so good. Dessert was delicious too. The wine was very good quality. The staff and service were just very good too. Cannot wait to return to Cheltenham we will definitely be back.

If you are looking for a quirky, individual hotel. Book here. Attention to detail is superb. Fluffy towels, amazing bed linen, comfortable beds and individual layout rooms. Fantastic ambience throughout the hotel. Gin and juice bar underneath the hotel is also not to be missed. Japanese restaurant was just amazing. Definitely return with friends who we know will love this place. Apparently the hotel can be a little noisy due to the bar underneath. Just ask for a quieter room. Location is perfect for a mature couple who still have a little life left in them!

First impressions of No 131 are very favourable, the hotel is in a great location and is very attractivly presented, albeit a little dark in the decor. There had been an issue with our booking and so we were upgraded. The young man that carried our bags to the room remarked that we'd been given a 'quiet' room and it wasn't until later that night that we realised the implications of what he'd said! What he didn't say was that the room was split level and we had to descend a very tight wrought iron spiral staircase to use the bathroom!! The bedroom was actually very nice, although a little on the dark side! Comfy bed with an overkill of pillows!! The bathroom was also very nice, large, light with a standalone bath, old fashioned loo, hand basin and large shower wet room. Which actually leaked all over the floor and very nearly caused an accident! What was missing was any sort of shelf to put our toiletries. That might appear being pernickety but it's so annoying to stay in a 'luxury' boutique hotel and find that the small things have been completely overlooked. Yes, the towels were the fluffiest ever but I had all my toiletries lined up on the floor. There was a desk in the bedroom that doubled as a dressing table but with absolutely zero light. What was required was an angle poise lamp so that anyone could sit comfortably whilst applying makeup! As it was, I had to hook my mirror on the shutter slats and work from there!! Back to the noise.........when we got to bed at around 12.30, it was like having our own private disco in the room, apparently we were above a night club. Marginally better than others from our party who had to contend with the terrace bars being literally the other side of their bedroom windows. The other big complaint I have is that when I took my life into my hands to use the bathroom in the night, the room lit up like a Belisha beacon! There was obviously some sort of light sensor on the staircase but rather than being set to just illuminate the stairs discretely, it lit up the room!! All in all I wouldn't not recommend No 131, but you need to be aware that it's a noisy set up, a little style over substance, and could do with a bit of a refresh.

Stayed for just one night with my wife in Room 25. Wow! Wow! Wow! A massive comfy bed, with three or four pillows. Comfy settee, work desk and chair in tbe next room, and then what a bathroom! Twin sinks, a large bath, and the most amazing twin shower cubicle with rain shower head, and an adjustable "body height" one to keep yout hair dry. Can't comment on dinner. But breakfast was pretty decent. On a gorgeous summer evening, the drinks area at the rear of the property, Gin & Juice was perfect. So chilled. Plenty of street parking at the rear of the property, and permits provided at hotel reception. Would I go back again? Absolutely for another stay that room.

Nothing to say about the hotel or restaurant. But the bar … it is a continuation of a theme that the service and prices are awful . They invent random closures of indoor and outdoor bars , so you have no idea what you are heading into . So tonight , all bars were shut , except one , that had huge queues, and 20 min plus wait time for a simple drink due to all the cocktails . The location is great , it has much going for it . But 131 has dire service and prices. For some the location beats all , actually for many as it is packed at weekends . But service is pitiful. But they do not need to care as it is the place to be seen. There is no competition and that is why it can continue to be so poorly run without any consequences. Arrogance or brilliance. You decide .

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The food was very good and the service was excellent,Very friendly atmosphere, Everyone enjoyed the food ,Silvana our waitress recommended us delightful cocktails and we loved them. Well done team , definitely will return

OUTSTANDING rooms! Done with such class and attention to detail. It really sets itself apart from surrounding hotels. The staff and customer service in our experience has been exceptional. It has the Wow factor for sure. Great spot for a special occasion. Definitely recommend.
