I would absolutely recommend this place. Beautiful room and beautiful location, with overall great customer service. But don’t leave it too late for breakfast as they do run out of things. Great customer service: Lovely lady at reception desk when we checked in on Saturday morning. Very accommodating in allowing us to check-in early, with a free upgrade to a river view as we had booked direct. So grateful, thank you! Clean, nice room: Very clean and well-decorated room with a big comfy bed. Beautiful view of the river. Great air-conditioning. We also loved the night-light on a sensor in the bathroom. Quiet: Such a peaceful and quiet place, apart from a few very vocal ducks! Didn’t hear any other guests. Slight traffic noise in the morning but hardly noticeable. We had such a great night’s sleep. The breakfast: When we came down for breakfast at 9.30, it wasn’t very clear at first about where and how we order. But we figured it out, but it could be clearer. You can eat outside which is lovely in the sunshine. The hot food we had was very nice and came out promptly but my husband’s order was missing mushrooms and black pudding, which we wasn’t told about in advance and wasn’t replaced with anything else. More beans would’ve been nice - they came in a tiny sauce pot! Breakfast is apparently served until 10.30 but when I went up to the breakfast area at 9:50, there were no pastries left and when I asked, I was told that there was no more left and that was that. When you’re paying £15 per person for breakfast, you expect to be able to get all of the items advertised, even if it’s not the whole selection of pastries, but to have no pastries at all is a bit off, especially at that time. The friends we were staying with came down shortly after us and had a long wait for their breakfasts. When two other later tables got their food first, my friend enquired about their order - just in case it had been missed - and was brusquely told by the waitress that she only had one pair of hands! It eventually arrived - without cutlery, which we then had to hunt down ourselves from another waitress as there were none on the tables around us or at the breakfast area. Hot drinks are served only by the waitresses who seemed rushed off their feet, so we only got two small cups of coffee each. Would’ve been better to have self service on hot drinks. We had to ask for more orange juice as that had run out of that too. Just created unnecessary hassle really. These things should be topped up without having to constantly ask. First hotel breakfast I’ve ever had where I didn’t leave feeling full. So maybe get there before 9am to have a better selection. Tip: make sure you get a token for the barrier when you check in and check out. Nobody told us about this and we were a bit confused about how to get the car out!
