Amora Thapae Hotel Chiang Mai

Very good, this is my second stay. The doorman is incredibly warm and friendly. I just hope the front desk service improves a bit. The location is great, the view is good, everything else is excellent! I'll definitely stay again!

The location is incredibly convenient; just across the moat is Tha Phae Gate, and there's a Sunday night market. Not far behind the hotel are the famous Ffparking Durian Sister and Warorot Market. Many internet-famous restaurants are within walking distance of the hotel. This hotel doesn't seem to do much marketing in China, as most of its guests are from Europe and North America. The breakfast is purely Western style. The only downside is that it's not a 'picture-perfect' hotel that young women might prefer, and the facilities are a bit dated.

The air conditioning was very noisy, so we turned it off at night to sleep. Luckily, it wasn't too hot. We left a note and a tip, asking them to fold it into an elephant, but they took the tip and the note without folding the elephant. Very speechless.

I can't give this place a good review. We were given the furthest room with our child, and the hotel hallway was really spooky. The lights even went out suddenly while we were staying there, and there were strange noises. Definitely not for the faint of heart.

The room was quite spacious. The hotel's exterior and lobby were very grand, and it's the tallest hotel in the old city area. The doorman was excellent; he took our luggage to the room and even helped us load it into the car when we checked out. We exchanged 20 *zhu* for two small elephants [presumably a local currency/custom]. The downside was that the air conditioning was blasting as if it were free, making it very cold. The worst part was the loud air conditioning noise at night.
