Went for lunch. This is definitely a venue which caters for big events/ weddings. The venue and gardens are lovely... we had a lovely walk round the gardens after our lunch, but the food was disappointing and expensive for what we got. We will not be going again.

We stayed in the staple oak suite recently which was the same day as the wedding fayre. When we got to the room it was ridiculously hot as the fire was burning full blast plus there were 2 plug in radiators on full also & the normal heating !!! We had to open all the windows and the doors for ages to try and cool it down. We were disappointed this stay because there were no complimentary biscuits on the teatray and no magazines on the table like there normally are , plus the hotel info booklet was missing so no info on checkout time, breakfast times anything ? Personally paying £300 for the suite you would think little complimentary touches would be a done thing. It says in the information online about the staple oak suite that if you don’t feel like leaving the room they can bring your meal to you and because I was feeling unwell we rang reception which was diverted to the bar, and when we asked them about room service they didn’t know whether they could do it ? It seemed to cause some sort of confusion amongst the staff ! So we came down to the restaurant It seemed to us like they were short staffed or something as it wasn’t upto the usual standard we’ve experienced on previous stays here. The evening meal was nice except for the mushroom soup which was lukewarm The breakfast was ok but not a great deal of choice for what you would expect from a hotel if this standard. It’s ok if you wanted hot cooked items or cereals but if you wanted fresh fruit or bakery items such as pastries or croissants or even sliced meats etc there wasn’t anything like that. Just frozen berries in a syrup. Definitely not the same standard that we’ve had on several stays which is a shame and maybe now time to find a new favourite hotel and change.

Lovely hotel beautiful room and amazing staff. The hotel grounds are absolutely stunning but what makes this hotel stand out is the staff. Every one of them makes you feel important and are so friendly. Thank you for a lovely night away being so lovely with my mum.

My husband and I stayed here over Easter on a deal they were offering. The hotel is lovely, furniture in the rooms maybe a little dated but it goes with the hotel. The staff were lovely and friendly and extremely helpful. The food in the restaurant was lovely and a good choice. Breakfast was included in our stay and there was a good selection of hot and cold. We will definitely return.

Booked to stay here a couple of nights as a short winter break, having stayed here a number of times in the past. Had a suite, which was very roomy and comfortable, with large bathroom. Room was very clean. Room facilities included tea and coffee supplies, bottled water, iron and ironing board, tv in the lounge, and toiletries in the bathroom. The suite felt dated with dark brown furniture, and dim lighting. Evidence of water ingress on one window cill. Bathroom had a shower over whirlpool bath. Shower took quite a long time for hot water to come though. Breakfast was part help yourself - cereals, fruit, juice etc, and hot breakfast cooked to order. For someone preferring continental style breakfast there was not much choice. We had dinner both nights. The bar and lounge area is welcoming with a lovely log fire and comfortable seating. This dining area is nicely presented. There is a fixed menu, with option for 2 or 3 courses. We found the food average rather than fine dining so a bit disappointing. Parts of the hotel are not currently open, and some of the exteriors are clearly in need of maintenance. We found all the staff lovely and the lady on reception helpful. There is adequate parking which is free. There were not many other people staying, which may be the time of year. We learnt that the hotel is currently up for sale, so unsure where the future lies. Chipping is around a mile or so away, with a nice little cafe at the back of the post office if you want to walk in.

Revisited here for a family meal. It’s a Beautiful hotel with gorgeous surroundings. The dining area was laid out splendidly with white linen tablecloths. The bar area was cosy with leather chairs and roaring fire. We enjoyed an amazing 3 course traditional Sunday lunch. The food and the service was excellent. We left content and will return, and would recommend highly to friends.

We arrived to a warm welcome and were seated by a log fire. Our Chris**as meal was just amazing from first to last course. The staff are very friendly and have a good knowledge of the good foodavailable. We will certainly be back. The Whaites family. X

We did a last minute trip and booked in for 2 nights but only stayed 1. First room they gave us was poor but accepted the 2nd room No 11. Bigger room and bigger bed but extremely old fashioned and in need of updating no luxury at all. Bed very uncomfortable also, the sink was cracked and the taps where loose, again also very dated. Staff friendly and food ok but we felt like we could not stay up past 9.30 as the place looked like it had losed up for the night. Not a happy stay for £245 for 1 nights stay. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
