Chongqing Jixiashan SUNYATA Resort Hotel

This hotel definitely lives up to its reputation! It's located in the Longmenhao Old Street area of Nanbin Road, within the former U.S. Embassy villa complex. The hotel actually occupies three of these villas (the former Xinhua Trust Postal Savings Bank, the former U.S. Embassy Military Attaché's residence, and the former Customs Villa). The design meticulously preserves the original architectural style, and I really appreciate the understated aesthetic of 'Jixia Mountain' (the hotel brand). It brilliantly juxtaposes the new with the old, creating a magical, contrasting ambiance that dances through the space. It's incredibly charming and deeply retro; everything here feels like it's stepped right out of a century-old film, imprinting the traces of history into the memory of every guest. The breakfast at Wang'er Restaurant was exquisite and delicious, and the butler service was incredibly attentive. My stay here was unexpectedly wonderful.

I specifically came to Chongqing this time just for Jixia Mountain, and it certainly didn't disappoint. The hotel is built within a historic complex that includes the former US Embassy, offering a rich sense of history. However, despite being an old building, it has been renovated beautifully and is very comfortable to stay in. I didn't encounter any soundproofing or dampness issues often associated with old houses. Although it's located within a scenic area, the privacy is excellent; it truly feels like stepping into a different era just by crossing a wall. I particularly loved the hotel's incense, which was incredibly relaxing. Their travel photography service also produced some great shots. Next time, I plan to stay at their other hotel in Chongqing.

The room is a refurbished old American embassy, giving it a very retro look. The bedding is quite comfortable, with one resilient pillow and one down pillow. The only downside is that the air conditioning is a bit noisy, and since it's central AC, you can't adjust the direction, so it blows directly onto the bed, hitting my shoulders. The location is absolutely fantastic! The hotel entrance is a popular Instagram spot with people queuing up every day. The service is truly excellent; the butler is available whenever you need them. The breakfast was a bit simple. I think it would be great if they had a breakfast menu with some simple options like fried eggs, congee, noodles, or fried rice – that would be perfect and avoid waste, as the set meal is too much to finish and feels like a waste. The environment is unparalleled, even with an elevator up the hill. The butler service was superb; they picked me up and dropped me off, and helped with my luggage, which I felt a bit bad about! I'll definitely come back if I get the chance! You can see the Yangtze River Bridge from the window, and the night view is absolutely stunning!

This place truly lives up to its reputation. **Facilities:** It's located within an ancient building, and while there are obviously limitations, you can tell a lot of thought went into the design. It's perfectly adequate for daily travel needs. **Cleanliness:** Very clean. Even after coming in from the rain, there was no dampness, as they air it out regularly. **Environment:** The riverside scenery and environment are, of course, impeccable. **Service:** Unobtrusive, yet always there. We had a lot of luggage from a long road trip, so a big thank you to the butlers and the front desk ladies for their hard work.

The environment is beautiful and the service is very attentive. Even though it was raining, the experience was great. You can have breakfast in your room, and the bed was really comfortable. I'll definitely come again.

Had a fantastic stay here, and the location is super convenient. It's easy to get to the cable car or Line 6 of the subway if you want to experience crossing the Yangtze River Bridge. Plus, on Saturdays, you can catch a drone show nearby!

The hotel is located right within the scenic area, built into an old house that beautifully blends wabi-sabi aesthetics. From the window, you have stunning views of the Dongshuimen Bridge and the river. You can simply relax, sip tea, and take in the vibrant life of the mountain city. Definitely one of the best hotels to stay in Chongqing.
