We have no words for this hotel. Mrs. Katerina welcomed us at the port with a wonderful smile. As soon as we arrived at the hotel Artemis gave us all the information about the island and helped us with the car rental. All the staff are wonderful. The cocktails in the bar are all perfect and the breakfast is very varied and in large quantities. The pool is on the cliff and you can see the infinite blue. Avaton is surrounded by nature and a beautiful path leads to the center in less than 10 minutes. With the behavior of these people we felt like we were at home. We will be back again next summer

Great place to stay in Folegandros. Secluded and relaxing, but only a 10 minute walk to the charming and authentic town, Chora. Amazing staff, beautiful rooms with comfy beds and every room has a balcony over looking the Aegean Sea. The pool and terrace are gorgeous with a modern-bohemian design and incredible views. The hospitality was top notch. Artemis and the staff were so accommodating- they booked our ATV’s, arranged our shuttles to the port and ensured we had everything we needed. A true five star experience.

This is a great place to stay at Folegandros, only a 5 min walk away from Chora enjoying the best views. Great, spacious rooms with sea view. Great breakfast on the terrace at the large swimming pool. Friendly owners. A place to relax, dream away in peace and quietness.

I can’t say enough good things about this hotel and it’s owner. Vasili has poured his heart and soul into building a peaceful environment where guests can relax and simply let any stress melt away. As Vasili tells it, he has been in the hotel industry for 40 years, bought the property for this hotel in 2004 and has spent the past 18 years developing his vision into a reality. Nine beautiful, chic suites, all overlook the pool area which has incredible views of the sea and the famous church of Folegandros. Avaton means “a private place that is sacred and inviolable” in Ancient Greek and Vasili has truly created a space that fits the name.

Everything was great - beautiful room, unforgettable view and great hosts. The hotel is located a 7-minute walk from the center. The visual arrangement of the rooms is excellent, exactly as it is shown in the advertising pictures of the hotel.

Had a wonderful stay, and Im already planning to come again with my family next summer. Everything about the experience was fantastic; amazing sites to see, great food, and absolutely incredible staff (best I’ve experienced in Greece).

There are some hotels that Know and some hotels that Try. The Aveton tries and sometimes they get it very right and sometimes they fail spectacularly. I have visited Folegandros before and stayed at the Anemi. This trip I wanted to try someplace new and the Avaton was recommended (although not by friends who have stayed before). I’ll start with the positives - the hotel is modern and clean. It has a wonderful position, close to the Chora but overlooking a secluded bay. You can see over a small ridge up to the Panagia Church off in the distance. The pool and pool furniture are very nice and we spent a fair amount of time relaxing by it plus breakfast is served there each morning. We stayed in an ‘Earth Suite’, which is a perfect size and has a small private terrace; the bed and shower were great. So now onto the negatives. This is not a luxury hotel at all and you realize this quickly on arrival. The hotel is still under construction. So, beside the pool and in the view of the bay is a large, hulking concrete skeleton of a new wing where construction had temporarily stopped. Breakfast was served every morning by the pool until 11 am, which we thoroughly appreciated (the coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice and the yoghurt are excellent). For some reason, however, they bring a series of packaged foods including processed cheese slices, processed meat slices and cake. We sent these back every single morning and yet they kept bringing them every single morning. It would be nice to be given a choice for breakfast (scrambled eggs off menu are an additional cost to the single boiled egg they include). Our biggest issue with this hotel, however, happened during our second night. The power was cut off on the entire island (this is totally out of the hotel’s control and which actually made for a memorable and romantic evening in the chora). Naturally, the hotel turned on its generator after about half an hour of no power around 630 pm. Unfortunately the hotel also turned the generator off in the middle of the night - around 130 am - without any warning. When it went off, an extremely bright emergency light turns on above the bed and of course the air con goes off. We sat around waiting for half an hour expecting it to either go back on or at least some information from the hotel. I got out of bed, went to the reception area to see what was going on but no on answered. We never received any information on what was going on all the while the very bright emergency light illuminated the room until the generator was started again at 630 am. I get that electricity supply is an issue on these islands- but I know that none of the other hotels turned off their generators that night (we had friends at three other hotels across the island who had uninterrupted sleep that night). When I mentioned this to Katerina the manager, in the morning she was unapologetic. The main issue I have is that the Avaton is MORE expensive than the other nice hotels on the island

Perfect location, a little away from the city, quiet and on the road which leads to the island's rare beaches. A perfect swimming pool too, perhaps the most beautiful in Folegandros, with an incredible view of the sea and the same is true of the room, clean and functional, in general. That said, the behind the scenes is a little less idyllic. To begin with, there is this building under construction 20 meters from the hotel and the swimming pool which disfigures the view and gives the place a bit of a post-apocalyptic character which will not please everyone. Then the absence of kitchens, and therefore of a restaurant proper, which only leaves you the choice between omelettes, supermarket salads and a club sandwich generously served with chips and made 100% with industrial products. A very good performance when you know the simplicity and quality of Greek cuisine everywhere else :) the same goes for breakfast, not up to the prices charged for an overnight stay at Avaton. We could have skipped over this and the rest and let ourselves be hypnotized by the view, unfortunately the unfriendly attitude of some of the staff does not tend towards leniency. In summary, Avaton, an Airbnb with room service rather than a luxury hotel according to European standards. But still strong potential, when the construction site and the recruitment of a cook are completed. In the meantime, courage to the vacationers who venture there, as well as to most of the staff on site who are showing good will. And long live Folegandros!

This is an intimate and luxurious family-run hotel. It is the combination of the personal touches and unbounding efforts at customer service to make your stay perfect that really makes it stand out. With a small number of suites, it is a quiet and peaceful environment with a stunning pool and views and luxurious pool side area. The rooms are spacious and modern and quiet with a large private patio. The included breakfast was outstanding, with fresh fruits, a basket of bakery items, greek salad, greek yogurt, and specialty coffees. The walk to the hora is only ten minutes in the light. Take a flashlight for nighttime or catch a cab home if you are alone or a female traveller. In sum, would definitely stay here again, it is absolutely gorgeous and the family makes it feel like home
