Terrible check in, stood for 10 minutes waiting for the receptionist, who was on the phone, to at least acknowledge I was there. Had attitude as well. Eventually checked in by another member of staff Rooms are dated, signage is terrible, door is locked from the inside, wasn’t told this at check in and felt it was my fault Food was very good, both breakfast and dinner with excellent service

We were upgraded to a beautiful room on the top floor overlooking the golf course without even asking. The person who checked us in was lovely, warm and friendly. And incredibly accommodating about a late checkout. We are only staying one night but will definitely be back! We really wish we were staying longer.

Only good thing about this place was Linda on reception! As a disabled visitor I struggled to navigate rickety stairs to Room 4, no offer to move me to a more accessible room. The young man who helped with my bags clearly didn’t know the way to the room and took me on the most difficult route possible. Shower faulty which resulted in scalded feet. Temperature could not be controlled and water pouring out of both tap and shower. Room was large but bleak. Squeaky floorboards in the corridor and banging pipes kept me awake all night. Ordered breakfast for 8am only to receive a phone call at 7.45am to say it had been cancelled!!!!! Apparently there was breakfast being provided for the bridesmaids so the kitchen staff took it upon themselves to cancel our breakfast. No discussion! Outrageous! Food service was beyond slow and food arrived cold. Asked twice for a jug of water which never came. Promised hot brócoli to replace stone cold specimens - but it never arrived. As for the banana creme brûlée..::it was hideous and grey. The most unattractive desert we had ever seen. By the end of the meal, guests were in fits of laughter as the whole experience was farcical.

Just back from an overnight spa/dinner break at Shaw Hill. Our experience was first class from start to finish. All the staff are a credit to the Hotel. We used the gym and pool facilities and enjoyed a relaxing facial in the spa. Anlambys Bistro where we had lunch, dinner and breakfast was fantastic. We enjoyed all the food we had and the quality and freshness was second to none. The staff in the restaurant and bar could not have looked after us better and the range of drinks was excellent, especially the **** star martinis! The cleanliness throughout the Hotel was also evident. Our deluxe room was spacious and comfortable with lovely views over the golf course. Everyone was so friendly whilst being professional and we left feeling fully relaxed and very happy. We will definitely be back.

We had an amazing experience! The food in the restaurant was perfect and the service from all the wonderful staff was great. Our room was lovely. We also went to the spa and had a massage which was great too. Everything was absolutely perfect for us. Thank you so much all!

Wouldn’t recommend a stay at the Shaw Hill Hotel if you want a good night sleep. I had a two night stay for work purposes and didn’t sleep well either night. The room I was put in was directly above the bar which had music playing; on the second night the music was on until 1am. In my frustration I picked up the phone to call reception - the phone did not have the ability to do so as it was so old. I decided if I were to get any sleep before work the next day, I had to go down to the bar myself to ask them to turn the music off. The staff member there said he was in the process of doing so - but why was the music on until 1am, especially when there were no customers in the bar? The bed was not particularly comfortable and the floorboards in and outside of the room are squeaky due to the hotel being an old building - you can hear everyone walking outside of your room. Generally, the hotel is dated - don’t be fooled by the modern bar when walking through the doors, the bedroom I was in was not as luxurious! Positives - generally the room was clean and receptionists were friendly. Overall, I wouldn’t stay again.

We can't thank Hannah and her team at Shaw Hill enough for creating our wedding day! We had seen many venues, but none were as welcoming and hospitable as Shaw Hill. We wanted a full vegetarian wedding, and the team at Shaw Hill made that so easy for us. I'm sure the chef doesn't regurlary serve a full vegetarian three course meal, but they pleased all of our carnivore guests! We had so many compliments from all of our guests, and all the staff's efforts really showed. Shaw Hill were so accomodating and really helped to make our wedding bespoke to our needs. Hannah and Alec made the day so stress free for us, and took the weight on their shoulders so we could actually enjoy our day. We worked with Hannah for several months whilst organising the wedding, and she was always available and happy to help in any way she could. We really couldn't be more grateful, and we got so many compliments from our guests about both the venue and the staff. The venue itself is stunning and our photographer was able to use several indoor and outdoor areas for our photographs and the results were beautiful. The ceremony room was perfect for our needs, it was intimate and beautifully decorated. We really can't recommend this venue enough. Thank you so much to the Shaw Hill team :)

I have visited the Beauty Spa salon a month ago to book several treatments only to find no staff in reception, and two teenage girls running around reception, giggling and banging around. I understand the girls are sometimes with clients in the rooms, and this is the reason why no staff are there in reception, but to have young girls behaving like this is not on! I left without making any appointments! I did eventually book my appointment's over the phone , and i was told that the girls were the managers children. fast forward one month, I went into the salon again on Friday last week to book my appointment's, to see one of the teenage girls just walking around reception again, and because of this, i will not be booking any further appointment's in the future. This is not how a Spa should be!
