Bungalows on the Bay

Bungalows under renewal. Many nice features and some improvements occurring. Great beach, bar, food, and a super fun island to visit. We will revisit soon!

Fantastic views and the trees and bushes were all trimmed and neat. Bungalow was very nice just enough room and kitchenware for two. Staff were all friendly. Could use some updating. We'll be coming back for sure though, updating or not.

RESERVATIONS – Due to a software glitch (don’t book on high volume days), 3 reservations were made in 15 minutes—I immediately cancelled two within the hour. Bungalows on the Bay (BoB) verified two were cancelled, but did not return our money!!! They did not answer a week of emails, so we had to have ******* contact them (they had problems also) to get our $5K back. Over a week of sleepless nights to straighten this out. POOL - it was a CESSPOOL. All 10 days there were diving beetles and other bugs LIVING in the water, and a thick growth of algae on the sides and corners. I never saw anyone vacuum it. Some days the water was entirely green (yet still open with people in it). If there is algae in a pool it eats up all the chlorine and the pool is unsanitary—it was not safe to be in the entire vacation ROOMS – we booked a 400 square foot room, but were put in a 225 square foot room, Cabin 5. A huge downgrade (BAIT AND SWITCH?). We had already moved in, put groceries in the horribly rusty refrigerator, and wiped the room down with Lysol wipes when we noticed how small it was. We didn’t want to waste a half day of vacation arguing with the office and packing and moving to a room that may be worse. 4 cockroaches.

Liked the seclusion and privacy but the facilities could use some improvement, for example pool and beach area needed more seating, advertised marine toys were limited or non-existent, better have GPS to find the place. All over nice place would consider again.

My husband and I are celebrating our honeymoon and adventuring the island - we stopped by Bungalows after a recommendation from friends of ours. And let me tell you… we’re so glad we did. We met Jimmy, the owner, and he spoke with us about the history of the property and all the plans they have laid out for improvements. We asked about the grass/reef area in the water (since we love to snorkel) and Jimmy shared that a turtle, spotted ray, and sometimes a shark, will hang out right off the dock. My husband and I got in the water, and not even 15 minutes in, we were blessed with being able to swim side by side with a gorgeous sea turtle for about 20 minutes. Just when we thought we were done, the spotted Ray joined us and we swam with it for a while! We left the water, had some DELICIOUS food and drinks, then decided to get back in. Holy cow, we saw the turtle and Ray AGAIN!! I also pet a starfish, saw live conch shells, and so many fish. Honestly, we were a little disappointed we didn’t stay at Bunglaows to begin with. The property is gorgeous and quiet, while also teeming with wildlife, which is right up our alley. They do live music as well. Definitely take time to stop by Bungalows, say hi to Jimmy, and watch the sunset.

Good east end location. Easy to get to and away from the crowds. The owners are remolding and the layout and location are a winner. It’s not a fancy, high end place but, that’s the whole point. Because of the size and concentration of amenities, you’ll probably make some new friends seeing the other guests often.

Checking in took almost 3 hours -our first room was not cleaned and then our replacement room/cabin was full of wasps - not one or two - I think we counted 15 and there was apparently a next in the ceiling cap of the ceiling fan . Jackson (maintenance hero) got the wasps taken care of but we couldn't get in the cabin for a while - other than that BOB was great - a bit run down, but being renovated by the new owners. Beach was awesome, bar was a bonus, pool needs some work but was clean and refreshing. All the people working were very nice and friendly - a real plus was the nightly entertainment - - - Bingo on Tues, Trivial Pursuit on Wed, Steak Nite Thu and Live Music on Fri -

Needs upgrades. It is in poor condition. A lot of rot on porches . pluming ect. It is a great sit lots to do on site. They are trying to fix up but along way to go.
