The Cocos Padang Lodge is a great choice. The owner of the lodge, Angela, was very friendly and flexible, and staff member Eileen was really nice and great. The apartment was spacious, nice & clean, and very strategically location vis-a-vis restaurants, shops and beach. We enjoyed every minute of our stay, and certainly go back should we travel to Christmas Island again.

Fantastic for our family of 4 adults. Great location, close to the pub, shops etc. super comfortable and clean, plenty of room to relax. Had everything we needed to have an amazing stay. The host was so kind and helpful. We would stay again.

As others have said, this place is across the road from the Tavern which pretty much acts as a night club playing loud music until midnight. When I asked the reception lady if she could unlock the back bedroom in the hopes we could get some sleep, she questioned whether the tavern was even loud and said "did you bring earplugs" and "just walk across the road and tell them they are noisy, they probably dont realise". At 5 months pregnant I'm not going to walk across the road on my Pjs at midnight and ask the tavern to turn down their music, which i am certain they knownis loud. Pretty pathetic service really. Also the lounges were filthy, they smelt wet and sweaty and had a mould looking growth on the arms of the chair. Bed is a small double and mattress is superrrrr hard. No space in room for bags so they have to sit on the small lounge/dining space. Kitchen is old and hotplates were rusty. Location is decent and bathroom is spacious and has free washing machine and dryer which is about the only redeeming quality. We stayed here to support the businesses on the island, but I wish we had booked elsewhere.

POSITIVES: - Unit was resonably spacious for 2 people, it included one bedroom, living area combined with a kitchen and a bathroom - Kitchen was well equipped (pots, pans and various other utensils), there was a kettle, fridge, microwave and a stove (complementary tea and coffee were provided) - Bathroom was private, but in a separate part of the building, it comprised of a sink, shower, washing machine and a dryer (free toiletires were provided) - Living area included two sofas, table, chairs and, small sound system and TV set - Free WiFi (two vouchers, 20GB each) - Air Con (in the living area and bedroom) NEGATIVES: - Ceiling fan controller in the living area was broken and it was not possible to turn the fan off - NO bug spray was provided and they came in droves (mosquitoes, cocroaches and humongous centipedes!) - No salt and pepper in the kitchen - The sink in the kitchen kept getting clogged - Fan in the bathroom was making a loud, rattling noise and it wasn't very efficient **Taking into account that tropical conditions make it difficult to maintain buildings on Christmas Island, for the price we paid, we expected something better. The whole unit, although clean, looked very old and is definitely in need of refurbishment.

Living space is so narrow two people can't walk through at the same time. The couches are so narrow they seem like they are for children. One of the four beds was somewhat comfortable while the other three where rock hard. The walls are just a single layer of material so you can hear everything in the room on the other side and the air conditioner condensers mounted on the walls vibrate the the whole place. It was clean and kept well, but uncomfortable and depressing.

Good place to stay for location and get acquainted with Christmas Island. Accom is fine and there is a reasonable kitchen so you can do your own cooking as currently there are few options on the island as most eating spots are closed. As mentioned by a previous reviewer it is opposite the Golden Bosum, which has no chef currently and yes, the music can get a bit loud but it only kept me awake one night. Was there for three nights. It is handy that you have your own washing and drying machine. Powder was provided. Do not expect the latest appliances but they do work, although the cooktop is very slow to heat up and pans are far from non-stick, you can prepare you own meals. Note there is a lack of pretty much everything at the supermarkets and prices are sky high. At least five times the mainland for some items. I paid $6 for a cucumber for which I would normally pay $1. We completely underestimated this issue, which may resolve in time. There is air con but as stated my a reviewer, make sure you bring mossie repellent as the mossie are bad. All in all handy but don’t expect too much

A comfortable option for your stay on Christmas Island, with pretty much everything you need. However we found the bed and couches very uncomfortable; perhaps needing an update to something newer. The location was great in terms of accessing things in the Settlement, including Flying Fish Cove and the biggest of the supermarkets…but the convenience was unfortunately marred by the fact that it’s directly across the road from the tavern, which thought itself more of a nightclub and had the music pumping and people yahooing six nights out of our seven night stay ☹️ And the one night of silence was only due to it being a public holiday and being closed 🙄 Overall it was fine, but realistically if you like to get a good night’s sleep so that you can get up and at ‘em to go exploring the next day, then it’s probably not the best choice for you.

We stayed at Cocos Pandang Lodge for a week on a family diving holiday. It was near perfect and ideal for us with 3 bedrooms, a nice area to sit outside at the front, ceiling fans, and aircon that works well with separate units in each bedroom and the living area, and really everything you might need is provided. There are four apartments all with similar layout, two double bedrooms and living area at the front, an enclosed walkway along the back ideal for hanging washing (with drying rack, pullout line, and pegs), then large 3rd bedroom with double bed and single bed, and laundry/bathroom. We could wash our wetsuits out in the laundry tub and then take them around front to hang from awning and dry in the afternoon sun. Having a washing machine was great since Virgin are strict on the 23kg limit which included our dive gear, so not many clothes needed. You can book as 1, 2 or 3 bedroom and any un-booked bedrooms will be locked. All units have been renovated and are clean and comfortable. The living area is small with 2 x 2-seater couches and a small dining table. There are quite a few TV channels to choose from. The kitchen is also small but has a full oven/cooktop, microwave, large fridge/freezer, with everything else that we needed (including salt & pepper, plenty of tea coffee sugar, zip lock bags, glad wrap, and foil). We were surprised to find a full litre of milk waiting in the fridge for us, much appreciated because our flight arrived late and the supermarket closes at 5pm (tho we found out later that there are some other small grocery type shops that re-open at 4pm for a few hours on some days). There is also a communal BBQ in between units 2 and 3. The bathroom is well supplied with hairdryer, plenty of toilet paper, shampoo, body wash, conditioner, and quite a few towels. We knew that only Telstra works on Christmas Island, but only for phone calls and texts, no mobile data at all anywhere. The Wifi at Cocos Pandang Lodge is good and we received a few vouchers on arrival, they are limited to either 2048mb or 5120mb so you need to be mindful of how you're using it, tho plenty for us. We loved sitting out the front and chatting to the other guests. The view I would describe as ocean glimpses and better from #1 and #2 but all look out over a nice grassy expanse to the road, some shops and the Golden Bosun Tavern with a gap between where we can see the ocean. The Tavern is a great place for a drink or a meal and there are convenient steps down to the road to make our lives even easier. They do get a bit noisy at night sometimes when there are lots of workers on the island. Something we weren't aware of until a few days before we left Perth was the requirement to do an online entry permit for both Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands for each person, and also G2G for re-entry to mainland WA. All were easy to complete and approved immediately but good to get it done before you travel. Flights from Perth to IOT islands are cons
