So we arrived at accommodations after driving from Melbourne around 1.30pm. Found accommodation easily but not a soul around anywhere. Buzzed reception and spoke to a woman & explained we had just arrived (acknowledged that we were perhaps slightly early). The response was immediate that we were indeed too early. We offered to go and get some lunch but were told to wait and someone would meet us. That was it!! We were indeed met by a lovely young girl clearly servicing the rooms who said we were in Unit 6, it was ready. That was appreciated. On entering initially we were happy with the size of the unit which indeed for only 2, were inundated with beds, which would be great for families or larger parties. Washer/dryer was a definite positive as we travel light & getting washing done & dry really helped. However reading the ‘guest information’ T & C sheet left us feeling, like another reviewer opinion about an almost ‘angry’ tone and lots of yellow highlights about what NOT to do!! A check of shower room left us feeling that maybe this isn’t as good as we thought….functional but definitely in need of at very least some TLC if not a bit more. Shampoo, body wash & conditioner but no hand wash/soap? Also under no illusions once used you ain’t getting anymore as highlighted in T & C’s!! There was, again like other reviews, a ‘damp’ feel to the bedding…..it wasn’t and was difficult to put a finger on but wasn’t a welcoming feeling when trying to get some kip! Outside decking nothing like photos on line, very weathered and perhaps indicative of the property overall. We have toured Australia for about a month now, one memory will be the friendliness of everyone, the willingness to communicate with guests and a pride in providing information on the area! None of this was evident Southern Ocean Villas’s, indeed I’m wondering why there is a ‘reception’ building as we never saw it being occupied by anyone ! Surely guests should expect a level of communication more than, there’s your room, get on with it ! Might suit some but not for us ! Really felt like, right you’ve paid your room rate, your room is over there, read the T & C’s & move on ! Expecting more ……but maybe that’s just us? Could/should be so much better and wouldn’t take very much ! To top it all, our travel agent at every stop on our trip has very kindly arranged for wine or chocolates on our arrival! We took a call just as we were getting ready to leave from host asking if we’d be about for another 15 mins……to deliver chocolates as she was unable to have them for our arrival……not a massive issue but just again indicative of the culture at the property !
Likes: * Heater + fan provided in rooms * Rooms are spacious with plenty of room for bags etc. * Pillow protectors + bedding are clean, soft and comfy * Free (1) beer if you stay 2+ nights * Close to lots of local attractions * Parking on site * Powder room to get ready * The guy who runs the brewery / pizza is super nice and chatty Dislikes: * House rules are quite strict - want us out the hostel during the day (there is lots to do locally, but we just thought this was strange) also can only shower at certain times etc. * There are fridges for you to store cold food but no where specific to store dry foods Improvements: * Wifi downstairs sucks and no wifi upstairs in bedrooms - there are notices around the hostel saying this will happen eventually, but we were shocked it wasn’t already a thing
The room is generally clean, bit of wear and tear and some exit mould wouldn’t go amiss in the showers but good bed and quality linen with a bathroom that has been updated in the last few years. Check in experience was a little strange, I’d booked Best Western but no signage at property as it’s called Great Ocean Road Studios. However on back of room key is a business card branded Best Western with the GM’s details. Room keys with paper tags denoting your last name all lined up on a plastic fold up table with little instruction, not as welcoming as other tourist town motels I’ve been. I understand the concept but had concerns that people can take and access your room before check in, including guest information privacy. No facilities at Motel, if you need anything you need to go to town (500m away - Motel is on outskirts of township - all others appear in the centre of town) Supermarket is open late but don’t be surprised that most other things are only open from 8AM, if you’re travelling on from here get supplies in Port Campbell the night before. Only one place for Coffee at 07:30 and you can’t miss the line up of people trying to get theirs before hitting the road including the locals. Don’t stay in rooms 9 or 14, there are rooms above with no sound insulation. I heard everything including the conversation of guests, TV and every time people moved or walked about the roof and walls would shake, not to mention one night I had family above and kids were running up and down the stairs. This also includes hearing the rooms next door. The Accom buildings, although look permanent feel like they are prefab kit accommodation almost like demountables you get on mine sites. Stayed 3 Nights (Probably more than most guests) in total and not once was the place cleaned/serviced - notional sign about cleanliness practises but I didn’t experience this. Probably great for 1 Night quick stays during travelling the Great Ocean Road but I’d choose another option in town for longer stays.

The hotel is right by the road, but not noisy. There are living rooms and balconies on the upper and lower floors. The rooms are large, but the only drawback is that there is no washing machine and dryer. The hotel does not have a front desk service. You pick up the key at the door yourself. Each apartment has a fixed parking space. There are several restaurants at the door, which is very convenient for dining. You can also cook in the apartment.
There is no big town near Shiermenti. This is probably the best hotel I can find on Ctrip and Airbnb.
Because the reservation was rushed during the holiday, I only had time to book a room. I was worried about whether a family of four could stay in one room. After Ctrip customer service and hotel room description, we were placed in a large bed with a double sofa bed. The room was solved. Hotel management Vivian warmly received us, the room is fully equipped, the scenery outside the window is beautiful, quiet and relaxed. The quality of the toiletries is very good! The kitchen utensils and kitchen utensils are complete. In the evening, I went to the Wave Restaurant in the town to finish the meal. The quality is amazing! After dinner, go to the pier and the beach and watch the tide and sunset again. It is wonderful! There is a supermarket in the town, bought some ingredients, and started to make a hearty breakfast on the second day. Port Campbell's small living is perfect! Thanks to Ctrip's platform and services, thanks to the everything provided by Anchors Hotel, see you next time!
It’s an adorable property, and Ron, who runs it, is a lovely, welcoming guy, but my kids had to sleep on a fold out sofa. I thought we were getting an ordinary room with beds for everyone - especially for the price- but We came to realise that port Campbell is a very expensive town to stay in. Dinner in town was super expensive! If we thought ahead, we would’ve taken advantage of the kitchen in our room! if you’re a couple - go for it! You’ll have plenty of room, there’s a kitchen, lovely little deck… it’s very cosy and cute. I’m not sure if there’s bigger rooms, but we booked for a family of 4, and half the family slept on a sofa. This was possibly my fault in booking though, so I don’t want to be too critical
That's great! !! !! The most comfortable hotel we have ever stayed at! Very very suitable for family travel, you can cook by yourself, because you have children, you can provide meals for children at any time. The owner is hospitable! The hotel environment is very good! The rooms are large and the public space is large! Be sure to choose this hotel again in the future!
Stayed in a two bedroom unit. The unit had a nice kitchen and well supplied for cooking. The washer and dryer were great and there were racks to hang clothes as well. The living area was good with lots of natural light. The unit sleeps up to five but only had comfortable livingroom seating for 4, the dining chairs were hard to sit on to watch TV or chat. Good location.
We arrived in Port Campbell after driving from Melbourne along the Great Ocean Road (highly recommended!). The friendly receptionist offered us a choice of cabins. The one we chose was at the front. It was comfortable & spacious and had a well-equipped kitchen. Price was reasonable. Free parking. I would stay here again.
beautiful little cottage with an idyllic setting, easy drive to the Port Campbell main action area, the 12 apostles, Gibsons Steps and other popular tourist spots. they have an attached laundry area if you wish to use it and a small outdoor fenced space to just walk around taking in the country-life scenes of meadows and hills, the fishponds and the herds of cows. nothing much to do at the cottage per se but nice comfy place to spend the night. Be sure to inform the hosts if you're checking in late - it's not your standard commercial reception desk open 24/7. We arrived at almost midnight and the hosts thoughtfully left the house keys and a simple map to find our suite in a ”mysterious” envelope for us. It was fun! Room we choose: Garden Suite

Excellent
GGuest UserCentrally located with the convenience of food and supermarket. At the same time, the only inn with the best view in sight. We booked a sea view room and was able to enjoy a mug of coffee at the porch while enjoying the beautiful ocean view. Facilities are adequate and well maintained. The thermal bed is the best consideration the inn has offered for a comfy, warm sleep in winter. Best lodging I've stayed during my coastal drive trip.
GGuest UserThe double room unit was spacious and well-appointed. It was spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and there were two lounge chairs as well as a small table for dining. The bathroom was luxurious with heat lamps and an adjustable flow shower head. The kitchenette had no sink but a plastic bowl was supplied for washing dishes. There was a laundry available with a small charge - $4 per wash/dry. There was a nice garden view and outdoor seating. Very good free Wifi connection. A small swimming pool was available for guests. There was ample, easily accessible parking. The staff at reception were very helpful and friendly.
GGuest UserThis accommodation has the best location - directly opposite Port Campbell bay - with its beautiful beach and jetty. And the shops and restaurants are all a short stroll away. The accommodation has been recently renovated and is spacious, clean and really comfortable. And for a change I could even access Freeview to stream something I actually wanted to watch. The manager is friendly and incredibly helpful. I had trouble with the heater (my fault) and called the manager (afterhours) and he turned up within a few minutes, smiling and doing all he could to help.

SsunmatoThe location is very close to the 12 Apostles, but there are no shops nearby. You have to drive to Port Campbell, 14 kilometers away, to find a shop (supermarkets close at 17:00).
HHUANA single wooden house with a lot of space and quiet surroundings. I slept for a long and stable night. The landlord JIM was warm and friendly. He came to check in shortly after check-in to understand the needs of the guests and asked if there was anything that could help. As a stop on the Great Ocean Road, the price is very high.
GGuest UserThe backpacker hotel, the soundproof is not good, but the tenants are relatively quiet, and it is also an experience to communicate with tourists from various countries. Shared living room kitchen and bathroom, good sanitary conditions, temporary stay on the Great Ocean Road for one night.
My husband and I stayed 2 nights in the dog friendly, queen cottage, with a country view. We were greeted by a dog who was very friendly. The checkin was contact less. First impressions were already disappointing. We made our way to our 'cottage'. The garden areas were neglected and overgrown with weeds. The front steps were covered in fake grass, with real grass growing through it, nails popping out. The porch was dirty and small. There were overgrown shrubs in front of the verandah blocking any view. There was a plant, in full fruit, growing through the verandah known as Beladona or Deadly nightshade. A very poisonous ****. Not a good plant to have growing in a child and dog friendly environment. Inside the squeeking front door, with a lock that was less than secure, we were gob smacked by the unkempt and unloved condition of this accommodation. Curtains hanging down, grubby bench tops, unfinished paint, filthy light fittings with dead bugs in them. A tiny dining table with one placement cut in half. In the bathroom, the fan was not working, and we found the wiring for it in the drawer. There was 1 small set of drawers and 1 small cupboard. The double hot plate was not working on one side. The BBQ looked very uninviting as the cover was fithy and sticky. The bed was warm and comfortable but not a queen as advertised. There is NO restaurant or food served as advertised. There were no dog bowls or bed. Not even for water. The area for the dog to run around in was not secured by a fence or gates. Nor was the verandah. I have never left a negative review for any place we've stayed at. But the neglect of this place was unbelievable, particularly given the price we paid. I feel like it is falsely advertised big time. It's a shame. This accommodation has so much potential. We won't be back.
