"Right next to the train station - best spot during winter when we went as we didn’t have to walk far with our bags and on snow!
Breathtaking views of eiger mountain"
"The hotel staff were very friendly, and the hotel's location is excellent. However, we checked in late. When we arrived at Grindelwald Terminal station, it was raining and pitch black everywhere, and we even struggled to find our room, which was quite an overwhelming experience. I also wouldn't recommend the ground floor rooms, as they don't offer views of the picturesque mountain slopes."
"A magnificent hotel at the foot of the Swiss Alps in Grindelwald. A magnificent stay, located 100m from the train stop, the bus station and with bus stops nearby. Pleasant hotel, with magnificent views of the Eiger, spa with warm water pool, jacuzzi and a magnificent small outdoor pool. The staff was very attentive and professional, even speaking Spanish, so you feel at home. The rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable, with a terrace with wonderful views, and a large, warm bathroom. The breakfast was fair but good. We would definitely stay at the Belvedere again."
"It is a hostel so you should expect what you paid for … over all the front staff Julian and Isabelle were the nicest, the lodge is just a doorsteps to the Grindelwald Terminal … there is a transport village bus card which the front desk will give you so that you can use this to go around the Main Village and just right around Grindelwald ..
— the bad side, in mixed dorm the room is very tiny for 6beds it’s not really very comfortable specially when someone walking around with his boxer shorts 😞 … the facilities are pristine but they don’t provide towels in room you have to ask this in front desk - it’s the cheapest place in town but it’s the loveliest the bar grill is so relaxing while sipping with your ginger ale … the breakfast can’t complain it’s all delish with all those bowls of yogurt and freshly brewed coffee yum"
"It's only a 5-minute walk from the station. You have to climb a slightly steep hill, but from there you can see a magnificent view of Grindelwald.
The room was clean, and the breakfast served while looking at the beautiful view was exceptional. The staff were all friendly.
I would definitely stay here again if I visit again."
"It's really awesome experience for us on our honeymoon trip. View is superb, cold air, room is spacious and clean. its very near to the bus or train station.Breakfast is just the same selections on daily basis and not much of varieties, but there are alot of eateries around and Coop is just less than 5mins away. definitely will want to come back again for the Eiger views Gracias!"
"The hotel's location is excellent, with plenty of restaurants and shops conveniently nearby. The view from our room's balcony was like a beautiful painting, with the majestic Eiger mountain right across. Plus, the First mountain cable car station is just a hundred meters directly opposite the hotel entrance. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of options, satisfying even my 'Chinese palate'. Most of the hotel staff provided great service across all departments. Housekeeping cleaned our room thoroughly every day, and the young, handsome guys in the self-service restaurant were particularly warm and proactive, making our dining experience very pleasant. The only downside was a female waitress at the hotel's cheese fondue restaurant on the first floor. She wasn't wearing a name tag, was petite, had a ponytail, medium build, and appeared to be around forty years old. Her attitude was absolutely terrible and incredibly rude! It was barely 6 PM, and over half the restaurant was clearly empty. I politely started to ask her in English, 'There are three of us...' but before I could even finish my sentence, she rolled her eyes at me, waved her hand dismissively, and loudly and impatiently blurted out in broken English, 'Full, full! It's completely full! Can't you see, there are no seats left!' It was absolutely infuriating. I've traveled to many countries, both domestically and internationally, and this is the first time I've encountered such an awful hotel staff member! And it felt very obviously discriminatory! Honestly, the fondue restaurant itself smells pretty bad, and encountering such a terrible waitress instantly diminished the beautiful scenery and our good mood. I still recommend staying at this hotel, but I advise caution when considering the smelly fondue restaurant on the first floor because of that particular waitress!"
"## Environment
The location is absolutely stunning, directly facing snow-capped mountains and a picturesque hillside. The view from our room window was simply gorgeous. It's also conveniently located right next to the train station, and you can even watch trains pass through the beautiful scenery.
## Facilities
Although the hotel is historic, it's impeccably clean and well-maintained. It beautifully combines classic charm with modern conveniences. Parking is available but costs 25 CHF per day.
## Service
Overall, the service was quite good. However, on our second day, housekeeping didn't replenish our complimentary water bottles, seemingly because we hadn't finished the ones from the previous day. When we finished them and called reception for more, we were initially told there would be a charge. After we explained that the water hadn't been refilled during cleaning, they promptly sent some up free of charge. Interestingly, the mini-bar drinks are complimentary. On a lighter note, the cleaning staff accidentally left a cleaning cloth behind, haha! Each of us also received a complimentary voucher for the evening lounge, redeemable for a drink while enjoying live piano music – a really nice touch. The pool was wonderfully empty, but unfortunately, the sauna was out of order that day."
"Almost Perfect Stay at Hotel Alpenhof
Absolutely stunning mountain view from the balcony of our suite. So breathtaking yet so serene. About 10 min walk down hill brings us to lively village of Grindelwald with all its shops n restaurants n cafes n supermarket. Cannot ask for a better location. Having said that, without a car, it can be quite challenging to take our luggages uphill to the hotel.
Breakfast is another highlight of our stay. Fantastic selection of cheeses n eggs n bread n yogurt n everything. Delicious.
Our suite is clean n comfortable n spacious. WiFi is stable.
The only “negative” I have for our 4-night stay is that the glasses/mugs we used in our room were occasionally not cleaned for us after each day. It is a bit strange.
All in all, I have no hesitation recommending this hotel to other travelers."
"The most beautiful place I’ve ever ever been too. So so blessed with clear skies almost everyday during our stay. It’s so worth every dollar spent. I would love to be back again for this magnificent view. You’ll not regret your stay here. Breakfast has a breathtaking view as well! I miss every part of grindelwald."
