"This is by far the most satisfying guesthouse I've stayed at on this trip. The courtyard boasts a unique garden landscape with charming small bridges, flowing water, and a tranquil koi pond, creating an exceptionally peaceful and comfortable atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and bright, offering lovely views from the window. All amenities are smart and the entire place is impeccably clean. The owner was incredibly helpful and welcoming, assisting with luggage and even offering warm milk before bed. Breakfast was fantastic too! Due to the excellent experience, I decided to extend my stay in Shaxi for another night, but unfortunately, they were fully booked. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied!"

"A very satisfying family road trip! My personal favorites: 1. Cleanliness: Exceptionally clean and tidy. Every corner of the room was sparkling clean and dust-free, and the courtyard was also quite elegant and clean. 2. The environment is a traditional Bai ethnic wooden dwelling, with rooms featuring ethnic characteristics and a beautifully maintained courtyard. My favorite part is the fish pond surrounding the courtyard (shown on page 1). It not only efficiently utilizes space but also imbues the homestay with the aesthetic of ”a source of living water.” 3. The amenities are fully equipped for daily living, and the unique feature is that each room comes with earplugs. Despite being a wooden structure, the soundproofing provided by the original design ensures quietness between floors. 4. Parking: The parking lot is spacious and close to the roadside, making driving in from the main road smooth and easy, with no worries of oncoming traffic. 5. Location: Just a 5-minute walk from Sideng Street. There are also some friendly restaurants nearby, and transportation to the ancient town is also very convenient. 6. The atmosphere is incredibly friendly and down-to-earth. The hosts, members of the Bai ethnic minority, not only manage the daily operations of the B&B but also proactively offer assistance to guests wherever they can. Interacting with the host couple is like being among family and friends. As soon as our car arrived, they immediately showed us the way and helped with our luggage. Seeing us eating, they offered us paper bowls and disposable cutlery. They shared local specialties like traditional pear varieties and wild mushrooms. Seeing we bought refrigerated items in the ancient town, they thoughtfully found us a foam box with ice packs and packed them securely. Our conversations at the end of the day gave us a deeper understanding of the lives of the ancient town residents and Bai ethnic customs, and we were deeply impressed by their unwavering concern for their guests' safety and comfort. In short, choosing Ruining Bohai Courtyard was the best decision of our trip to Shaxi! Thank you so much to the hosts for their thoughtful care! "I was very happy staying at the hotel for three nights. When I arrived I asked to change the room to the Starry Sky Double Bedroom, and it was the best room I've had of the same price anywhere - panoramic view of the mountain ranges 24/7). The hotel is run by a lovely family who live in the same compound (three generations living together I think). The owner and his wife are ready to assist you when you need. The hotel itself is super clean, with super modern toilet, and is very quiet. Its location is just at the edge of the ancient town - very convenient to get out and to get in. If you can make it on Fridays, there is a great Friday market nearby ( in the ancient city). The hotel can also arrange a shared ride to Lijiang, Dali etc. for you, which saves you the hassle of having to go to Jianchuan, then traveling on to wherever. I would stay there again if I have a chance to come back."

"My second visit to Shaxi Ancient Town, inspired by the TV show 'Meet Yourself'. I drifted off peacefully to the sound of rain at night and awoke to the morning sun. Mili B&B was the biggest surprise of this trip. The owners are a local, down-to-earth couple who are expecting a baby soon. Every evening, they'd join us for tea and a chat. A quote they shared, 'Why should a tiny speck of light fear competing with the bright moon?', was truly uplifting and helped us unwind. I've stayed in countless large hotels and upscale guesthouses, but Mili's comfort lies in its genuine human touch, feeling just like a gathering of old friends. It boasts a prime location, with the best coffee in Shaxi Ancient Town located right at its doorstep. Incredibly convenient and absolutely delightful!"

"This was the best accommodation experience of our trip – the 'Jin Sheng You Ni' (Meaning 'Having You in This Life') B&B in Shaxi Ancient Town. The location was super easy to find! The room was incredibly clean, comfortable, cozy, and quiet, with birds chirping in the morning. The air conditioning was very powerful, and there was underfloor heating too. The bathroom heater worked great during showers, and they even provided cute little white bath bombs. Waking up and opening the curtains to a view full of greenery was so healing. The B&B has a tall, beautiful persimmon tree that really catches the eye, with many tourists stopping to take photos at its entrance. The name 'Jin Sheng You Ni' is also very meaningful. The courtyard felt like a home away from home, and the owner was wonderfully warm and easygoing, like an older sister. She helped us with our luggage and even drove us to a convenient pick-up spot. The B&B has its own kitchen, and the breakfast and lunch were both incredibly rich and delicious: ersi (rice noodles), sandwiches, hot milk, freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee lattes… What an unforgettable trip to Dali and Shaxi! It was so heartwarming, satisfying, and I'm grateful for everything I encountered! Thank you to the owner and staff of the B&B, and thank you to the kind fellow guests we met ❤️"

"Located in a newly built area outside the core area of ​​Shaxi Ancient Town, this place features typical local residential architecture, and the succulents in the courtyard are beautiful. Overall, it meets the requirements for a B&B in this price range. For breakfast, we had white porridge, eggs, corn, and sweet potato rolls—typical Chinese fare."

"The owner is incredibly warm and welcoming. The room was spotless, and everything was impeccably clean. You can really see their attention to detail; even the toiletries were brand-name, and they clearly put thought into the tissues. Although the courtyard isn't huge, there's a separate tea room where you can brew your own tea. We stayed on the second floor, and my favorite thing was relaxing on the corridor there. It was so pleasant, day or night, with a gentle breeze – just incredibly comfortable! The hotel is very close to the ancient town center; just a quick left and another left after stepping out. The town is lively with a constant flow of people, but as soon as you return to the hotel, you're away from all the hustle and bustle. I genuinely recommend this place if you appreciate a peaceful retreat amidst the lively surroundings! Plus, the owner has their own tea plantation and indigo dyeing workshop that you can visit to sample and enjoy. The staff ladies at the hotel were also very helpful – truly excellent service!"
